Allison Cates (AllyCates) | 4 comments I have written a book and would really like to publish it; but have no confidence in my writing or editing abilities. I'm looking for someone willing to work with a newbie. I would like to develop a long term relationship with the editor for future writings.

The book I am working on is an Adult Fiction with BDSM content. If this type of book offends you please do not respond.

I have written the book as the start of a series, but it could also be developed into a larger novel. I believe it currently sits at around 50,000 words. I have been told by friends that it is good enough to publish. But I know that while I can tell a decent story; I need help on the mechanics.

Currently I believe my book needs content, copywrite and possibly developmental editing. But Like I said; first time writer for publishing; so I need someone willing to work with a novice.

I had to send a friend request first, included a quick note with the request.

Not yet, I am not sure where to look up standards, to know what is reasonable.

Here are a couple of posts I wrote about costs and what to look for/not look for.

Do make sure you get a sample edit to get a feel for the editor's style. Also I recommend asking for a number of quotes. Many authors change editors over time realising they want something different.
