Chrissie | 1529 comments I download my books from Audible to Itunes so I can listen on my Ipod. Once the audiobook is in my Itunes library it used to look like an icon showing the cover of the audiobook. Now I instead have a list of my audiobooks either by the authors' names or the titles of the books.I can no longer drag the icon over to my device because there are no icons. I cannot drag the title in the new list to my device. How do I now get the audiobook over to my device?

Please help me.

Msjodi777 | 52 comments If you have the latest update - or at least the version 12. - you have to go to View>View As>Grid to get the icons back, but it will still show up in list view in iTunes on your device. I have one of those love/hate relationships with this version of iTunes.

I like most of it, but you can no longer click on authors and see a list of authors, with only the icons for the author you click on. It is all the icons or a list of titles. Also, you have to click on books then click on Audiobooks to get to your audiobooks... not crazy about that either, though I do admit that if they would make it so I can see my kindle books in that book part, I might like it better, but I just don't see that happening... <><

I want to hug you! Why do they change stuff so you get totally lost?!!!!!! I see my icons now. Thank you. Phew. I was very upset.

Msjodi777 | 52 comments Glad I could help. And, yes, I feel the same way about the new one... it just drives me crazy that I can't see my audiobooks the way I can now see my music titles - grouped by artist (author) with a list of the author names, so that when I click on an author, I only see that author's titles. I have to scroll thru all of my audiobooks to find what I want. <><

Chrissie | 1529 comments Strange that they make changes that are worse!

Guess they just don't think about those of us who listen to audiobooks when they do this stuff. I have a fairly extensive music library, but my audiobook library makes my music library look tiny. Silly rabbits, just don't understand that they can't just make changes to things without riling somebody... now they have me upset, and I will whine about it till it gets done my way.... maybe.... <><

Wait a minute. If you put the books in your library NOT USING THE GRID VIEW, but the way it turned up for me and you helped me change, then you can see the audiobooks sorted by either title or author. The stupid thing is that the list has the books in alphabetical order by the FIRST name of the author, not the surname.

Ah, but.... I always change the author's name to read last name first everywhere, so it shows up right in list view. Been doing it for years.... But then I'm very picky about what I can see and want my get info page to show up the way I want it to show up, so I change it so that it does. <><

Chrissie | 1529 comments My point was that you CAN see the audiobooks sorted by either title or author. I thought you meant you couldn't do that anymore. I guess you meant something different, sorry.

Robin P | 1725 comments Whenever something changes in iTunes (which happens too often), I just google "iTunes library change" "iTunes new library view", etc. and find many other people annoyed by the change and so far someone has always posted directions on how to make it look as much like the old way as possible.

Robin P | 1725 comments Apparently something changed on mine beside the list/grid. I used to be able to put a check by the books I want to download and uncheck those I no longer want on the device. It seems now I need to drag them to the device, then go into the device and uncheck the ones I don't one. I can't even find a "sync" button.

I think every company (Apple, Amazon, Google) wants you to stream everything from their cloud instead of controlling it yourself !!

After much messing around, I found the option for Sync Audiobooks under Audiobooks, under my device. I'm not sure I'll be able to do it again. Not sure how it ever got unchecked but probably my husband was using the Music part of our library and changed something.

That is good to know of.

Maybe we can also here in this thread help each other.

Specs Bunny (specsbunny) | 494 comments Good tip, Robin! Thank you.
About the bothersome audiobook selection: o dear, I've been using Audible a lot and have not done this for a while, but this is not a good omen. I really regret the day I decided to buy some books via iTunes.
First they killed chapters function on iOS 7 and it took a very long wait for the repair. And now this. Apple must really hate audiobook lovers, bah!

message 14: by Robin P (new)

Robin P | 1725 comments I got everything back how it was, so as long as I remember how to do it, it's ok. Generally everything works great with iTunes, the books download perfectly and play perfectly. I don't have any chapter problems or anything like that.

I am escaping to this site as news has made me physically sick to my stomach. Aside from every other issue, we could have a president who doesn't read books!

message 15: by Specs (new)

Specs Bunny (specsbunny) | 494 comments The chapter issue was repaired in iOS 8 and only if you used the native iPhone player.
But it was really frustrating because Apple actually sells audiobooks via iTunes and had iOS7 kill the chapters function!

Chrissie | 1529 comments I have iOS9 with "voice over". In the changes made from earlier version, now when I touch a spot on the screen the stupid voice over says "button", as if I don't know that! Tell me which button please, stupid device! Often the voice over spells the words I am touching; I mean by this that when I push the "play" spot it say "p as in Peter", because play begins with p, for example. The changes made improve nothing. My "new ipod" works much worse than my ancient one; I had to change b/c the real button at the bottom, the one at the bottom if you hold it vertically, stopped working.

Tell me, why is that I never run into people at GR who support Trump and yet he has won?! I never thought this would actually happen. Unfathomable to Europeans, or at least me. Sorry, I guess I shouldn't bring up political things.....but my head is boggled by what has happened.

Margaret | 316 comments Chrissie, I think most of us are in shock. Time to spend a credit, get a new book and bury my head in it.

message 18: by Chrissie (new)

Chrissie | 1529 comments Margaret, that is how I use books too. I sympathize.

Dave In Hollywood | 93 comments People who read (or listen to) books are not the kind of people who support Trump? :-(

message 20: by Specs (new)

Specs Bunny (specsbunny) | 494 comments People who read Harry Potter don't. Heard it last week on the radio ;) - they did not say anything about audiobookaholics.

message 21: by Robin P (new)

Robin P | 1725 comments Trump himself does not read books. Obama and George W Bush, though very different from each other, both read a lot, and I'm sure both Bill & Hillary Clinton are readers. I'm convinced (and some studies show) that people who read are more open-minded and able to empathize with others. That is, reading actual books, not just online snippets.

William Robertson | 3 comments I use iTunes before, but I found it is always crashing. I have tried to use AMusicSoft Audible Converter to change the audiobook file format for several months. It helps me convert to MP3 format and upload to my player!
