A book I read before?

It starts out with the line " it really bothers me to see a clown cry"! or "I really hate to see a clown cry"! It seems the hero is an athlete like a football player, or possibly a rodeo cowboy, and he is addressing the heroine who is dressed as a clown for the children in a hospital, and he finds her crying.

That is all I can remember, but I know I loved it and want to read it again! I also want to recommend it to my daughter.

I think it might have been a Love Inspired romance, and I read it about 18-20 years ago[wow hard to believe that long ago]!

My review says "Family For Keeps(Love Inspired #183) grabbed me from the first sentence "Lady, it worries me when I see a clown cry", and it didn't let go until I had finished the book!

I really enjoyed this modern day romance with a nurse and a retired football player,and also the side story of the boy in the foster care system.

Excellent character development makes you really care about the characters.
