New York Fries serves poutine so I would have expected them to have it in New York!

New York Fries doesn't have chains in America. If that makes any sense.
Regardless, I see Poutine all the time around here, and I'm quite far from the Quebec motherload of curds.

The wife and I serenaded my family (parents, brother, aunts, uncle, cousins and spouses) with songs from Hee Haw.

A lot of artists post their little comics on Instagram: very fun to read.
I live for Black Friday so I basically live like a scrooge starting September so that I can go semi-crazy in November lol.
My good thing is that I haven't found much to tempt me in the Black Friday sales. Yay for not wasting money! :pMy other good thing is that the lovely Alexis wrote me a fab review on my latest release. <3
Woohoo. :D I never write reviews (and it shows lol!) I usually just rate books but I'm trying to write reviews for every book I read now since I know much it can help us authors on Amazon. :D

If I know the book is an indie, I try to be better about reviewing. But I pretty much only do Goodreads. I should look into doing Amazon more.
Thanks again! I really appreciate it.
I always put my reviews on Amazon. If reviews help sell books at all, that's where they will do the most good. It's a fantastic way to show support of the authors you like. I know I appreciate reviews and I am sure other authors do, too. So, I give what I expect to get.
You have to create a new account with a different email address. My kids made the "book" gmail account. My real name is not Carole P. Roman. We keep these two aspects of our lives totally separate. So, I set up an Amazon account under that name and I buy everything through there. I also started reviewing on Amazon right after I first published. It's great when you can give someone a review with the Verified Purchase above it.

Now I read them before I buy anything. I try to "pay it forward" by reading and reviewing an indie at least once a week. They need the reviews to influence people to buy the books.

I had a similar thing happen when I tried to create a business account and I lost all my reviews. I wrote and asked them to call me, they did immediately and ironed the whole thing out.
In the states, I think, I'm not sure- you can go into your profile and edit the information. I've done that a bunch of times. (not recently, though)
I learned a new knit stitch today! Learned being the operative term here. My scarves still turn out pretty knobbly, but at least now they look uniform in the front and back. Between this and my art projects, I may get all of my Christmas presents made this weekend!

I love the idea of Christmas and watching snow on television (grew up in the great white north and escaped as quickly as I could), but all the shopping and car ads and whatnot grinds me, which is why I always stop all ads and promos for the entire month of December. I then get to spend the month writing, making things, and planning what outrageous Christmas dish I'm going to attempt to turn vegan so my husband and his uncle can eat it. This year I'm attempting traditional Italian ricotta cheesecake. Yes, I love food challenges.
I used to love to cook. Reading the recipes- there is something exciting in thinking what you are going to make for a dinner. Most of the family is doing Paleo right now, one grandchild is allergic to eggs , milk, and cheese, another is allergic to peanuts, another allergic to nuts, tomatoes, garlic, one of my sons gets oral hives from zucchini, eggplant, cucumber, no one will eat rice, potatoes, pasta and don't ever mention sugar...They all hate chicken. I give up.
Dang! I can't blame you. Not that I can talk since I've got my own food restrictions, but I've already had to explain that I can't accommodate every diet, so others will have to share the load.
Alexis, Love the cartoon!!Aislinn, Congratulations on saving money and the fab review!
Carole, Great idea on the separate Amazon account.
Alex, Good luck fixing your account.
Christina, Glad you learned a new stitch, that's so exciting. I used to knit, but now crochet instead... which I actually haven't done in years and keep meaning to pick up. Scarves are great. I enjoy making blankets and doilies.
Smart move. Too late for me, I spoiled them all. However, this was the first Thanksgiving I didn't host in forty-one years. It was a welcome change.
I sold a book today for 2.99. Now I just have to hope it's not returned, I've heard of that happening to people
How long do people have to return books anyway. Personally I don't think that's very fair that they can :/

Haha, that's really not fair. I could so read a book in a week. The weather's nice-ish here today. 40 out now
True, but Amazon keeps track of the returns and if one would return books too often, I am sure they'd do something about that customer. (They too lose money on these returns.) I think it is fair to say that every author had had at least one book returned. Sure it makes us feel like crap but it happens and we have to let it go and move on.
Sunny here outside. No idea of the temperature though. Probably cold too.
Something good happened yesterday...found and bought my hubby's Christmas gift...the bad thing is he was with me of course, and there is no way he'll wait till Christmas to use it. :P
Agreed, G.G. And this is coming from an author who has seen several books returned. It hurts a bit, but it is fair. If I buy a product in a store, I expect to have a certain amount of time to return it. If someone buys one of my books and they are not happy with it, for any reason, they should have a chance to return it. It stings a bit to see the money refunded back, but it's fair.
I took a long walk in cold rain today. As much as this weather depresses me, there are times when just going out into it can be cleansing and refreshing.

A book return means that someone that didn't like it isn't reading it.
That is a good thing.
You don't want people reading it that don't like it.
Let them return it happily, and send that virtual copy to someone that does!

I had a pretty good writing day. Split my book in 3 parts to stop being overwhelmed by my plot, which means I'm no longer doing this:
I have a comment regarding book returns.Regarding returning a book, physical or electronic, I won't return it, even if I didn't like it. Just like I won't return a movie or music disc. Since there is information available such as a synopsis and reviews to make a purchase decision, I wouldn't feel right about returning it like a sweater. I guess I view media as a consumable, like food.
No, I don't enjoy every book I read and review. If I don't like it, I give it away. I review everything I read objectively based on the writing, content, characters, world building, and other such things. This means even if I didn't enjoy the story, I'm able to give it a good review based on the quality of the work.
Hey folks, this is still the fun folder and this is supposed to be a thread for good things that happened. Feel free to disagree with a return policy, but let's keep this thread on topic. So in that vein, I've got cookies!
For the last week or so, I keep getting bursts of inspiration in the middle of the night. It's 2:34 here..

I haven't been able to write since last Monday. I SPENT ALL DAY WRITING TODAY!! It felt amazing! Pardon me. Need to get back to it... 8-)
I apologize if the tone of my email came across as anything other than supportive, as that's how it was intended. Also, I receive email notifications from this group; After clicking on the link and reading several message, I sometimes forget what folder I'm in when I respond.
About a week ago the 'heroine' of my WIP painted herself right into a corner, and I couldn't see how or where it had all gone t*** up.This morning I had a revelation. It's all going to work just fine. Now all I have to do is persuade her to agree....
Also congratulations in large print to Alex. Go get them!
