New York Fries doesn't have chains in America. If that makes any sense.
Regardless, I see Poutine all the time around here, and I'm quite far from the Quebec motherload of curds.

LOL! See, it's sort of the opposite here. If I see a place in Texas called New York Pizza, I can guarantee I'm going to be disappointed by decidedly non-NY pizza.

So great!! Congrats!!
The wife and I serenaded my family (parents, brother, aunts, uncle, cousins and spouses) with songs from Hee Haw.
"Gloom, despair and agony on me..."
Great fun!

A lot of artists post their little comics on Instagram: very fun to read.
I live for Black Friday so I basically live like a scrooge starting September so that I can go semi-crazy in November lol.

My other good thing is that the lovely Alexis wrote me a fab review on my latest release. <3

Definitely! If I know the book is an indie, I try to be better about reviewing. But I pretty much only do Goodreads. I should look into doing Amazon more.
Thanks again! I really appreciate it.
I always put my reviews on Amazon. If reviews help sell books at all, that's where they will do the most good. It's a fantastic way to show support of the authors you like. I know I appreciate reviews and I am sure other authors do, too. So, I give what I expect to get.

Dwayne is right. Goodreads is a community of readers and Amazon is a community of consumers. I never even noticed the reviews until I started going after them. Now I read them before I buy anything. I try to "pay it forward" by reading and reviewing an indie at least once a week. They need the reviews to influence people to buy the books.

Contact them- all my credit cards are in my real name and it's not a problem. I had a similar thing happen when I tried to create a business account and I lost all my reviews. I wrote and asked them to call me, they did immediately and ironed the whole thing out.
In the states, I think, I'm not sure- you can go into your profile and edit the information. I've done that a bunch of times. (not recently, though)

Thank you, Alex!! I love seeing stars!!!

Aislinn, Congratulations on saving money and the fab review!
Carole, Great idea on the separate Amazon account.
Alex, Good luck fixing your account.
Christina, Glad you learned a new stitch, that's so exciting. I used to knit, but now crochet instead... which I actually haven't done in years and keep meaning to pick up. Scarves are great. I enjoy making blankets and doilies.

7 days

The weather's nice-ish here today. 40 out now

I think it is fair to say that every author had had at least one book returned. Sure it makes us feel like crap but it happens and we have to let it go and move on.
Sunny here outside. No idea of the temperature though. Probably cold too.
Something good happened yesterday...found and bought my hubby's Christmas gift...the bad thing is he was with me of course, and there is no way he'll wait till Christmas to use it. :P
Agreed, G.G. And this is coming from an author who has seen several books returned. It hurts a bit, but it is fair. If I buy a product in a store, I expect to have a certain amount of time to return it. If someone buys one of my books and they are not happy with it, for any reason, they should have a chance to return it. It stings a bit to see the money refunded back, but it's fair.
I took a long walk in cold rain today. As much as this weather depresses me, there are times when just going out into it can be cleansing and refreshing.

A book return means that someone that didn't like it isn't reading it.
That is a good thing.
You don't want people reading it that don't like it.
Let them return it happily, and send that virtual copy to someone that does!

Regarding returning a book, physical or electronic, I won't return it, even if I didn't like it. Just like I won't return a movie or music disc. Since there is information available such as a synopsis and reviews to make a purchase decision, I wouldn't feel right about returning it like a sweater. I guess I view media as a consumable, like food.
No, I don't enjoy every book I read and review. If I don't like it, I give it away. I review everything I read objectively based on the writing, content, characters, world building, and other such things. This means even if I didn't enjoy the story, I'm able to give it a good review based on the quality of the work.

So in that vein, I've got cookies!

You're not supposed to eat them, Dan!

This morning I had a revelation. It's all going to work just fine. Now all I have to do is persuade her to agree....
Also congratulations in large print to Alex. Go get them!
