G.G. (ggatcheson) | 2491 comments oh Taxol is cumulative too...they had to cut the dose in half because my fingers and nails were hurting too much and it still feels like it's full dose. I'm lucky I haven't lost all my hair, yet again. It's just enough to be too cold in this weather lol. With the treatment every three weeks I had. With the one every week, it just thinned out.

So you had to go through Radiation? After my operation the oncologist told me I would have some, but then it turned out that it wouldn't work for the kind of cancer I have. It's too spread out.

message 202: by Carole (new)

Carole P. Roman It's a tough drug. Sometimes when the chemo was so bad, I remember my husband saying his hair hurt. Make sure you eat, stay away from germs and work on getting better!

Today a song in my car playlist had a cheeping bird in it, and it made me take a moment to look around and realize what a beautiful place I live in is, and that I am lucky to be here.

hehe Nothing like birds to make you realize things. :P

I can't count how many times after going outside I see the cranes, the ducks, and the geese around the natural pond and I take a deep breath and tell myself, "What a lucky woman I am!"

Thanks for reminding me! :)

Sam (Rescue Dog Mom, Writer, Hugger) (sammydogs) | 973 comments C.B. and G.G. - I really enjoy hearing the birds singing in the trees in our backyard and driving by the lake in our town where lots of ducks and swans swim. So nice.

Kristen - Happy Birthday to your furry family member!! Sammy is my nickname!

Hugs to All

Happy Birthday Sammy from Bailey my cat and Bud the dog!

I must live in the starling migration path cause they fly past and land in my yard in such huge numbers. There had to have been over 200 birds last week

Rachel Sanderson | 19 comments Hello everyone, this is a lovely thread! Today I inherited a huge artwork because someone in our apartment complex is moving back overseas. We have bare walls and no money so it was literally a wish fulfilled! Now to figure out how to hang it...

Sam (Rescue Dog Mom, Writer, Hugger) (sammydogs) | 973 comments Congratulations on your unexpected gift, Rachel. I understand what you mean. If it's that heavy, you don't want to just hang it on a nail. Good luck!

Good stuff over the last few days - Seeing The Secret Life of Pets again. Seeing The Magnificent Seven which was FANTASTIC! I am dying to see it again.

Since people are talking about their pets, I have to say Teddy, Simon and Lola - just having them in my life brings me joy every day.

And every day I have with my wife is a good day.

I enjoy each and every coworker I have right now, which is weird. I am not a people person at all and generally clash with at least one person at work. But, not this job. Also, my boss is wonderful... because 99 percent of the time he leaves me the hell alone and when he doesn't, he's generally supportive. He's only yelled at me once (and I deserved it).

Well, I should wrap this up. Let's just say I always feel very blessed and every day is a good day in some way.

Christina McMullen (cmcmullen) LOL! Took me a second to get it as well Jane, but I think the issue is that in the US, the meaning is very tame and not the same. ;)

Rohvannyn Shaw | 189 comments Congrats Jane!

A really cool thing happened today. There's this older gentleman at my job who's kind of down and out. Today he won a turkey through a random drawing. The poor guy said "great! I'll have something good to eat! I only had dollar TV dinners left." Now he can have a decent Thanksgiving with something he can actually eat - being diabetic, most of the holiday foods aren't good for him. But this is, and I was happy to see his smile.

Thanks to everyone. I am proud. But there a thing I have learned. It's a weird feeling when you put a book out there. It's tempting to go back and fiddle with it. But that's BAD. Get onto the next project and let the baby wear out its own shoes.

Carole P. Roman I want to wish everybody a Happy Thanksgiving! Just bought Coconut Custard, Pecan, and Pumpkin Pies for tomorrow at the Millerage Inn, a three hundred year old restaurant that claims George Washington both ate and slept there. (probably after the huge turkey dinner- tripofan.)
The whole place smelled of woodsmoke and cider.

message 242: by Alexis (new)

Alexis | 265 comments Happy Thanksgiving Americans! I always wanted to spend a Thanksgiving in the US eating Turkey and Mac and Cheese (NEVER had either), lol. Hope it's a fun day for all.

message 243: by Carole (new)

Carole P. Roman Everyday Alex, I enjoy everyday, this one just happens to have turkey and lots of pies involved! lol
I know in Canada they have a Thanksgiving- do you have a holiday like that?

message 244: by G.G. (new)

G.G. (ggatcheson) | 2491 comments Thanksgiving in Canada is... the second Monday of October if I remember right. My family never celebrated it much. In fact, if they did I was too young to remember. As I grew older, it became just an occasion to have a free day of school. I know some people do celebrate it but I've never heard of it being done as much as I did since I moved to the States. (This was in Quebec. I have no idea of how it is in the other provinces.)

message 245: by Carole (new)

Carole P. Roman It does break up the time during the year, all the holidays. I love reading about Regency England and the way they celebrated Christmas.

As mentioned a few days ago, please avoid bookwhacking in this thread. This means listing costs of your books, telling where to buy them, providing links, etc. We're all excited about being authors, but selling our books to one another is not what SIA is about.

Christina McMullen (cmcmullen) Tomorrow is Thanksgiving. I have behaved myself and eaten clean for the last week. No, that's not my something good that happened. The something good is the homemade pumpkin pie that just went into the oven. Also, the fact that I will eat roughly half of it myself, caloric consequences be damned. Oh, and the gravy. I always make so much gravy so I have an excuse to make black Friday poutine. :D

message 249: by Carole (new)

Carole P. Roman Black Friday poutine, that sounds delicious. What is it? I've heard of poutine- is it french fries smothered in gravy and cheese? They don't have it in New York. We've been on the Paleo diet for a year now. I love all the trimmings, they are so comforting. Stuffing, potatoes, cranberry sauce, yum. My kids are food police and I will have to eat probably hidden away in a corner. Even the grandkids will rat me out.

Yep! French fries, gravy, and cheese curds. They do have it in NY, but only in the far reaches of upstate that border Quebec (not sure if it's an all Canada thing, but it should be!). Me, I'm having it in Texas because I'm a rebel like that. ;P
