The Something Good Happened Today Thread
Thomas wrote: "I've had more interaction in 2 days on a FB post about having my book launch this weekend than I think I've ever had on any other post ever. Hopefully it turns into people coming out!"Ooh what did you do differently with that post?
Leo wrote: "I don't like Christmas (actually hate it) but the sales prior to it are great. Got an order for 36 books to one store. Had only 30 left. Have to call the printer today."Yess. Congrats! ^_^
I'm shooting for a release after Christmas day because I know people will have tons of giftcards to spend lol.
Alexis wrote: "Thomas wrote: "Ooh what did you do differently with that post?"Nothing really. I made up my own flyer like usual. Shared it from my public page to my private profile page. I've done a few small cross promotional things over to Twitter, but nothing huge.
I think part of it has to do with the fact that it's the end of a series and there are people who have been waiting very patiently for it. The other part I believe has to do with FB's algorithms where it got some likes and shares, and so FB showed it to other people who like it to be supportive, and so FB shows it to even more people.
After being away from writing for a while, I felt good in getting back into it. I took a five-week course in writing, which inspired me a great deal. I had stopped writing prior to the course.
Guys. It's good that you're all excited about being writers and getting sales, but sometimes this conversation gets really close to bookwhacking. (See the rules). I just deleted two comments wherein the poster is asking members to go "tell their friends" to buy books from him. Not acceptable. We are a group of writers and exist to discuss writing, not to sell books to each other or each others' friends. Thanks.
i will not go into the details as it's a very long story and it's one of those "you have to be there" kind of things, but... when I came to work today I brought a bag of animal crackers with my name scrawled all over the bag in marker. My boss literally fell out of his chair. Yeah, very much an inside joke, but it made my day to see him laugh so hard.
Alex wrote: "They finally sorted my author account here, yay, happy."Nice!
I designed three covers today for the rest of the books of my series. Love them all. Can't wait to finally show the world.. in 2017 lol!

Thanks Alex! I just saw Carole share a link to your blog on Facebook so that might be something good that happened today for you that you're just now finding out about :D
Having come to a point in my current project where all of the characters are finally in place, and somewhat complacent, I surprised them and myself with a sudden attack. The attack had been foreshadowed, so it wasn't a plot deviation. It was coming, I just wasn't sure when it would have the most impact. Nobody was prepared. As for the author, everything is perfect, and the story is reaching a new level.
Ken wrote: "Having come to a point in my current project where all of the characters are finally in place, and somewhat complacent, I surprised them and myself with a sudden attack. The attack had been foresha..."^_^ Sneaky Ken, very sneaky.
I hit 20,000 words on my NaNoWriMo. It's a good chunk, but I need to buckle down and stop spending so much time on GR, FB and Twitter. And Overwatch...I need to stop playing Overwatch. But yay! Milestone!
Alex wrote: "I hope you hit them over the back of the head with a blunt instrument Ken to give maximum surprise."
I hit a starship with a battle star and all but killed a main character, the opening volley. Vague here, but explained in the story.

Alex wrote: "I hope their insurance is all paid up."
It was, but the insurance company claims that it was a natural disaster, and refuses to pay. Natural disasters are, according to the company:
"A major adverse event resulting from natural processes; examples include floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, tsunamis, and battle stars.

(Obviously, this is a joke! Congrats on the words Thomas! ♥ Hugs and stuff!)

I finally killed the character that needed to die after more than a month trying. The character didn't want to let go. Yay me!

It's what I get for going with that damned green lizard with the British accent. Their motto is, "Eh, wot?"

I managed to get 4k words written in my book for NaNoWriMo, study an entire unit for the CPA exam, and actually do the work I get paid to do. Now sure how, but it all happened in an 8 hour span. o.O

I would have, but I heard that their response time has slowed to a snail's pace....

In my case it didn't help, so I just had the turtle soup. Things were reeeeeeal slow after that.
Christina wrote: "Typically I'm a beer drinker, but I have developed a taste for the occasional Moscato."Spumante?
I'm not a beer drinker, nor a hard liquor drinker, nor a wine drinker. In fact I barely ever drink anything with alcohol aside those Mike's stuff (not necessarily this brand, I just can't remember how they are called.) BUT next week, for thanksgiving I am going to have me a nice glass of wine while thinking of you all having fun. :) Why change my usual? Sure for Thanks Giving, but also because it will be the first week since middle of august when I won't have chemo. Yep, one week break is enough to celebrate!!! :)
GG - one week break is a really good reason to celebrate. Sounds like Thanksgiving will be especially meaningful. Since it's been 3 1/2 years since my last chemo, I will have an extra glass and toast your success ;)
Ah thanks Karen. It's so good to hear success...yours brought a huge smile on my face. :) Sadly, I won't know until the next week if this chemo is working but according to the oncologist, if it works, i'll be on it for the rest of my life or until they find a permanent solution. So that is why the one week break means so much to me. I hope to get more from time to time but one is already a huge gift. :P
I finally have something! This is what greeted me this morning in my email- The results of the 2016 “Best Book” Awards have been announced.Your book has been honored as a "Finalist" in the "Children's Educational" category:
the fun continued when my son called to tell me he got this message-
Congratulations!

Another CFL burned out, bringing me closer to a well-lit, energy efficient, LED only home. My eyes are happy.
I just received probably the BEST review an author could possibly get on one of my books. Seriously, it left me with goosebumps, a racing heart and an inability to speak for a few minutes! If anyone's looking for me you'll find me on Cloud Nine.

That is true Dwayne. I was already thinking of making some pink chocolate chip cookies!"
I make green mint chocolate chip biscuits (US cookies). My friends love them.
