Enjoyed the show. I listened to it while driving home from a short trip. The horns "hooting" and the sirens on the recording made me look out my rear view mirror a couple of times.
In The Long Way to a small Angry Planet day 229 on Cricket, Bear says they bought their place about 5 years ago which is about 3 standards. So a standard would be about 1.7 years.
Also after listening I had to apologize to Siri for the times I yelled at her for messing up a request and not being grateful to her.

Thanks Ellen. I'm so used to the road noise that I didn't notice it until I was listening to the recording. We will make sure we're somewhere quieter next time.

I missed that conversion. I wonder what in the Wayfarer universe it is based on. Maybe I'll find out in A Closed and Common Orbit. It's already addressing some of the concerns raised in book 1.

The noise didn't bother me I just thought it was on the road with me at first.
