I am looking for the name of a book in the World War 2 Holocaust Survivor Genre. I think it was fiction (i.e. not based on a real person). The premise is as follows: In the past: A young girl is the daughter of a man who is trying to get high in the Nazi party with the help of his doctor friend. The girl's mom dies, and the brother enters the party. The girl wishes to get married to her best friend's brother (also her mom's best friend's son) and it is approved until it is discovered that her fiancé's mother is Jewish. In the present: The young girl from the past was rescued by an American soldier who brought her back to the states. She has a daughter (who she is unsure of who is the father), and raises her as if the American soldier is her dad. When the mom dies, the daughter finds clues that her mother may have kept secret. The mother's lawyer gives her letters to help her figure out her mom's past. The girl travels to Germany and meets her grandfather. The girl also has a tour guide who is very helpful in helping her unravel the past and try and right her grandfather's mistakes.
