The Heart of Addiction by Lance Dodes. A psychology tome, but to me it was a solid 4 stars.

I really appreciated getting to read a psychoanalytic or psychodynamic take on addictions. I began reading it to offer another model or approach to one of my supervisees, to what currently exists in the culture. I quickly began thinking about my resounding resonance to its precepts, and began discussing it with my other supervisee as well, and thinking about its application to multiple patients. Was thrilled to have spent the time with it. Well worth my and our attention in this field.
Now reading the Children Act, for two real life book clubs in November, and have queued up and in from the lIbrary, Soul of An Octopus, Zookeepers Wife, and To the Bright Edge of the World. Also, I am oddly enough taking a Tennessee Williams class, and have out three of his major works. Plus the book Pinch, for the November read of the Jewish Book Club. So I will be busy this month, and probably won't "Flurry" for November, but back in for December.
On another topic of another thread, I seem to be the only one who really likes and finds easy the Goodreads App. This is hilarious to me, as I am the least technological, lowest tech person in the group. I prefer sacred conversations, and know how to do literally nothing digital. Its really my only app. And yet I find it so easy to use. I'm on that thing all day long. I do everything but write reviews, and this one, I actually did on my telephone this morning. I check shelves, respond to posts, vote for tags, see what folks have been reading in the last 24 hours. I look up books, talk to people. I just find the thing so so simple to use. The computer always leaves me frustrated. Funny, that I am the least likely person to be the highest user. But true.
Hope everyone had a safe and happy Halloween. Buying back my kids candy this afternoon, as I didn't get the opportunity last night. First night of the 6 weeks of Tennessee Williams. Glass Menagerie by next Monday.
