For the information of others - The Keeper of Lost Causes is the US edition name. The book released in the UK as "Mercy".
Back to the drawing board for me....

Sorry Kerri! You can always vote for it :)
Phrynne wrote: "Faceless Killers by Henning Mankell"Ha, I was thinking of nominating this title, Phrynne, but now I'll be pleased to vote for it.
I'll put in a suggestion for some Icelandic Noir, from my favourite Icelandic author:
Last Rituals by Yrsa Sigurðardóttir
The book sounds great Mary. (I have no idea how to pronounce either the author's or the MC's names though)

Just mumble the syllables in your head, like I do...Interestingly, in Iceland they do not have surnames like we do. You are somebody's son or daughter (dottir) and that's it. I would be Mary Johnsdaughter. Apparently everyone knows everyone so surnames are not compulsory.

Now that's an interesting bit of information Mary - I had no idea!

I googled it and apparently Iceland and Finland are often included with Norway, Denmark and Sweden because of a shared culture. Or did we want to keep Iceland separate for a future challenge?
I've seen Iceland included in discussions of "Scandi Noir" several times. Here's the opening sentence of the Wikipedia entry: "The Republic of Iceland, Lýðveldið Ísland in Icelandic, is a Nordic island country in the North Atlantic Ocean." Iceland is frequently included in discussions about Scandinavia because of the shared culture. It was originally settled from Norway. Hence my suggestion to include an Icelandic book in the voting for the December read. Similarly Greenland, which was a colony of Denmark for centuries, although a very long way away geographically. But it's fine with me if you exclude the book now, as I'm sure there will be another opportunity to consider reading an Icelandic crime novel in future.
Well there you go Mary! I didn't pick up that your nomination was Iceland! We'll include them all, including Kerri's :)
This sounds like a fun Christmas read if you haven't read it yet, one of a series of lost crime classics, recently reissued. It's currently free on Kindle. Murder in Stained Glass

Nominate a crime/mystery/thriller/suspense book which is set in Scandinavia. True crime or cosy mysteries are included in this :)
This thread will be open until 15th November, then our nominations will go to the vote:) Good luck and have fun!
Authors and publishers, please don't nominate your own work!
