Slightly Married
Slightly Married (Bedwyn Saga, #1) by Mary Balogh

Meet the Bedwyn : six brothers and sisters—men and women of passion and privilege, daring and sensuality…Enter their dazzling world of high society and breathtaking seduction, where each will seek love, fight temptation, and court scandal and where Aidan Bedwyn, the marriage-shy second son, discovers that matrimony may be the most seductive act of all.

Like all the Bedwyn men, Aidan has a reputation for cool arrogance. But this proud nobleman also possesses a loyal, passionate heart—and it is this fierce loyalty that has brought Colonel Lord Aidan to Ringwood Manor to honor a dying soldier's request. Having promised to comfort and protect the man's sister, Aidan never expected to find a headstrong, fiercely independent woman who wants no part of his protection…nor did he expect the feelings this beguiling creature would ignite in his guarded heart. And when a relative threatens to turn Eve out of her home, Aidan gallantly makes her an offer she can't refuse: marry him…if only to save her home. And now, as all of London breathlessly awaits the transformation of the new Lady Aidan Bedwyn, the strangest thing happens: With one touch, one searing embrace, Aidan and Eve's “business arrangement” is about to be transformed into something slightly surprising.

Mariana | 2692 comments I am trying to decide if I want to read this book or go the audio book route. My library offers both. Anyone listen to this audiobook?

Andrea AKA Catsos Person (catsosperson) | 1635 comments I read this book and rest of series before I bec a GR member.

I really liked this book. I'll be interested to see what you who are reading it this month will think of it.

Overall, I really liked the whole series, though the last book was a bitter, bitter disappointment.

Lindsay (lorelai1945) | 54 comments I'm about to start. I've only read one other MB book, but I really liked it. I'm looking forward to this one!

Andrea AKA Catsos Person (catsosperson) | 1635 comments Lindsay,

What is the other MB book that you've read?

Lord Carew's Bride

Andrea AKA Catsos Person (catsosperson) | 1635 comments I think I read "Lord Carew's Bride." I think it was one of her really old titles that had been reissued.

My MB reading binge was pre GR membership.

Mariana | 2692 comments I decided to go the audio book route. I am about 1/3 of the way in and enjoying it thus far.

Priya (priyachennareddy) | 1544 comments I started reading today. I am going on a vacation for a week, so I might take longer to finish this one.

Bree Verity (breeverity) In Australia, I can only get this as an audio book. Since I don't like to 'listen' to my reading, will be giving this one a miss. Sad, because I am yet to experience Mary Balogh.

Andrea AKA Catsos Person (catsosperson) | 1635 comments That's too bad Bree.

I read this before I joined GR. It was good in my opinion.

I prefer to read than to listen, but I listened to this audiobook on my commutes to and from work. You should give it a try.

Mariana | 2692 comments I just finished yesterday. I am looking forward to discussing after Priya and Lindsay complete.

Lindsay (lorelai1945) | 54 comments I just finished! I really liked this a lot. I love the authenticity that MB writes- lots of period details, no anachronisms, dialogue that feels right for the time...I thought Eve was very likeable and that Aidan started stuffy but grew on me- not unlike Mr. Darcy. There were some really well-written scenes. I especially liked reading Eve and Aidan's dancing at the ball in her honor and the time they spent at Ringwood (view spoiler) Just feel-good HR with the perfect blend of fluff and substance.

I second your opinion. You typed exactly what I was thinking.

For some reason, I thought I had read another book by MB; but about a third of the way in, I did not recognize the writing style. I went through her books and realized I read none before.

The story felt possible and realistic to me, and I loved the day-to-day family scenes at home. I definitely plan to read the next book in this series.

Priya (priyachennareddy) | 1544 comments I finished reading and I loved Eve (view spoiler)

I always like reading historical events and detailed descriptions of ceremonies in HR.(view spoiler) I plan to read through this series, especially Bewcastle's story.

Andrea AKA Catsos Person (catsosperson) | 1635 comments Well,

I'm glad everyone is enjoying this book.

I read it before I joined GR and really liked it (loved Eve and Aidan).

I love details like that! It can totally make or break a HR book for me.

Sue | 100 comments I am late to the reading of this novel but I am really enjoying it as some said earlier 'the right amount of fluff and substance'.
