" I am sure many were sacrificed by dragons saving there selves because the humans would have killed them," he said.
Traenilm waited on the ground for his human to appear. He was still uncertain about this whole academy and treaty, but wasn't against it. Then again, he wasn't fully with it, either. As long as there was peace though, he'd deal with it. Humans weren't that bad, anyways.
Sapphira entered the flight class filled with nervous excitement and some weariness. She had told Lily, her best friend, that she could go with her to meet her bonded because she thought her friend needed to do it on her own to help her move on from the past. And that had been part of the reason. The biggest reason though was because she was meeting her own bonded and knew if she had told Lily this she'd spend her whole time with her bond worrying about her. And that was only if she could talk Lily into going and not following her. So here she was so obviously nervous and without her oh so brave best friend walking into the flight class to meet her dragon.
Sensing the entering human, Traenilm turned his head to look at the female. So this was his bonded one. He studied her, more curious than anything else. She was nervous, but didn't seemed scared. Interesting. Perhaps this would not go horribly wrong. "Greetings," he rumbled.
As soon as she entered she cleared her mind as best and she could and put her sole focused onto the dragon that was her bond. Having met Anya's bond who hadn't tried to kill her she felt more confident than she would have had her bonded been the first dragon she met after what happened three years ago. She pushed those thoughts out of her mind before they could fully form and walked over to her dragon, "Hello," she replied sounding more confident than she felt.
The dragon lowered his head, though there really was no need to. He could hear her perfectly from his height, but he still did it anyway. His dark eyes watched her closely as he questioned her, "Would you like to fly?"
Sapphira wasn't use to being watched so closely so it made her a little nervous. Of course that nervousness was replaced with excitement at the idea of flying. Her and Lily had spent hours upon hours just talking about how great flying would be and how they couldn't wait for it to actually happen. "Yes...yes I would," she said with a nod and a smile.
Traenilm lowered the rest of his body to the ground, wings included, smiling slightly, if dragons could actually smile. "Well, climb aboard," he told her. She seemed eager. That was a good sign, in his opinion. He loved flying through the air. It was far better than walking on the ground. How this species managed to do it everyday without complaining amazed him.((I apologize for my late response! I got suckered into something.))
((That's okay))She took a deep breath to calm some of her excitement down. She carefully climbed on not wanting to do something stupid and hurt either one of them. Flying was something that her and Lily had dreamed about for the past 10 years ever since the treaty started and now they'd finally get to. Highs had never been one of her fears which was definitely a plus. If anything she couldn't wait to know what flying was like.
"Hold on tight," he advised, "We wouldn't want you falling off." Slowly, he rose to his full height, spreading his dark wings, preparing to lift off. "Would you like to start off slow?"
She did just that because falling off was not something she planned on doing. Like ever. She had to take a few deep breathes to quell her excitement but she couldn't stop the smile the spread across her face. "Not really, no." she answered. To be honest she'd like to see how fast he could go.
Surprised, Traenilm turned his head to look at her to see if she was joking or not. To his amazement, she wasn't. After a short moment, he nodded, "If you say so," but he didn't sound disappointed. He looked up toward the sky, flapping his powerful wings. Within moments, they were soaring through the air, going no where near slow.
She just grinned at him. Despite her earlier nervousness which had disappeared flying was not one of the things she'd been nervous about. And there is no way they'd be going slow if she had any say in the matter. And that was how her and Lily were so alike. When it came down to it both girls were thrill seekers. "Oh I do," she replied excitedly. As soon as they were in the air flying she let out an excited and bubbly laugh. "Wow!" she said in amazement. Flying was better than she'd ever even dreamed of.
He laughed. This girl was not what he'd thought she'd be. Then again, what had he thought she'd be? Probably not this easy to like. After all, humans had brought war to his land. Humans had killed his family. Now here he was, bonded with one. "You're enjoying yourself, I take it?" He said with a grin.
She nodded, "Immensely." she answered. She couldn't believe she was actually flying. She imagined it for years. Waited with baited breath for it to happen and now she was finally flying and it was so much more spectacular than she could have ever dreamed of it being. There wasn't a single word and single phrase or sentence either to describe the thrill that flying was.
"Glad so." He sped up a bit, wondering how she'd react to it. So far, she'd surprised him at almost every chance she'd been given, and, despite what had happened years ago, he was liking her. If his parents were still alive, they'd probably be horrified. Like a human? Preposterous! Yet, there he was.
At his speeding up she let out a little yell of excitement. Too think she was this at ease being with a dragon, well it was surprising. The first dragon she had ever met terrified and horrified her. The second one she met Anya's bond had made her nervous and if she was being completely honest a little scared, but now she felt none of those emotions. She felt excitement as the most prominent emotions right along with contentment, happiness and relaxed. Not at all how she thought she'd feel so soon after meeting her bond.
Oh yes, he liked this girl indeed. He let out a little puff of smoke, something that showed he was enjoying himself. He turned slightly, intending to circle the academy. Traenilm kept up a steady speed, enjoying himself.
