A really important clue in the case was the inexplicable (at the time) shooting by the robbers at the movie location. Did you form any ideas from this clue when you first read/heard it?

That had me focus on both bank employees, Linus because his injury was so minor, and Ray because he was killed. I didn't know how but I knew they were involved.
