Without saying which I voted for--yours or Rose’s--I’ll admit you are one of the few writers I’ve encountered on Goodreads whose writing I’ve gone to the trouble to try to analyze, to figure out why it works. Effective writing is one thing, but effective verse is something else. It involves an intuitive synthesis that a look at word choice or sentence structure or the ordering of the elements in the poem can’t begin to elucidate.
