Could you understand why Martin described so many things as scary and terrifying as he recovered?

I think it is because he doesn't remember the time before he fell ill so the littlest things are new to him and he doesn't know how his body is going to do in certain situations so that can be frightening. Fear of the unknown. He always seemed to conquer that fear though.

Marykate | 21 comments Yes, it's like when you don't go out for a month or two. Then you have to go to a party or gathering and talk to people. Well, at least for me I have some serious anxiety in those situations especially when I haven't done it in awhile. He spent years not speaking, making a decision, working up to a speech in front of people! I can't even imagine the fear he felt over these things. He is a courageous person!
