Since I live near the world's largest Amish community, and have visited it several times. I am very interested in their culture, and have read both fiction and nonfiction about the Amish.

Now I am enjoying Amish Mysteries, except I have not tried any of the Kate Burkholder ones, as they sound far too grisly/gruesome for my tastes!

I love those by Marta Perry and Shelley Shepard Gray.

For anyone interested here is a list~https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/4...

I am getting ready to read~ Dark Road Home (Maplecreek, #1) by Karen Harper
She will be a new author for me.
ETA: Not like the usual Amish-themed read....full of crude talk and profanity! Won't touch another by this author!

My next Amish mystery is going to be by a favorite author- Marta Perry~ Where Secrets Sleep (House of Secrets #1) by Marta Perry

Carolyn I'm surprised that more people don't read amish fiction. I like it for the reason of no bloody gory details, no sex, no swearing, or just nasty stuff. It's my preference of choice. I don't have a problem reading Linda Castillo, Kate Burkholder series; as they are hard to put down; once you get past the murder description. I didn't like the overall theme of Book 2 pray for silence.

Wow, read my review of this 5-star read! Sorry, I didn't come recommend this one sooner!

https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I must get busy and read some of the other books in this series!

Since I also enjoy apocalyptic-post apocalyptic, I also want to check out "The Remnant" series by Vannetta Chapman.
