Sweet and scary Hallowe’en story. Jeremy and Roger are lifelong friends. Roger has two secrets, Jeremy just one.

Roger sees dead people, and on Hallowe’en he decides he has to tell his best friend Jeremy the truth at last.

Let’s just hope he gets to the party on time.

Feeley’s writing is good, and his characters are rich and engaging. For a short story, this one is well developed and satisfying in its completeness. We never get enough time in this format to delve deeply into any character’s mind, but Feeley gives us enough about Roger and Jeremy that we care what happens to them right off the bat. Feeley’s métier is the ghost story, and his longer books are as much fun to read as this Hallowe’en treat.
