Why was Victor Frankenstein so obsessed with death? What actions and events led to his obsession? Did any series of events or people foster his obsession?

Well, ever the contrarion in these discussions, I can't say that Victor was " obsessed with death" anymore than your average person is being fully aware that you're going to die. Victor's got a problem with megalomania. For example, "...What glory would attend the discovery, if I could banish disease from the human frame, and render man invulnerable to any but a violent death." Get over yourself, Vic.
