Jane (janeboniface) | 123 comments meh... not a book I really enjoyed unfortunately. Great cover though!
I think having read and loved Morris Gleitzman's "Once" series, it does kind of spoil you for other stories about a Jewish child trying to survive through WWII.
In this story the chapters are told from either the point of view of Anton, a 12 year old Ukranian Jew, or the very nasty Nazi "Major Von Duesen" who has made it a personal vendetta to hunt down Anton & his elderly grandmother. The chapters told from the Major's POV really didn't work for me, and there was quite a lot of dry historical information that will only appeal to really keen WWII history buffs. I will be interested to hear what some of our students think of the book - they may well enjoy it!
(This book came with the latest Scholastic Standing Order).
