Working from home is so stressful. I'm not surrounded by all my stuff and it feels awkward. Also, it's taking me an hour to update a spreadsheet because it keeps going into "not responding" mode and driving me batty. Also, I keep forgetting that I don't need to (get to) leave to go in to the office. It's kind of my time away from the home front - you just trade crap you have to do at home for crap you have to do at work, but it's at least a change of scenery and people. However, I am grateful that I have a job I can do from home and there are so many people that are simply off of work without any income. And it's nice to know I'm doing my small part to stop the spread and flatten the curve.

Second case in our town now. Both are peeps returning from overseas, who have now been isolated from the community for two weeks. I started work from home yesterday and I'm not keen. It is OK but I already miss all the contact and company of my workmates. Online and email just isn't the same :(
Still, I'd prefer that over the risk of going in to work. I feel for health workers and other front line workers. You are my heroes.
We're on total lockdown too. This is my first time working from home! IT IS STRESSFUL! I always thought I would love it, but its a struggle!Agree with Lisa though...thankful I'm still working and getting paid!!
Hang in there everybody!
On a sidenote, I really wanted to escape reality and find a good book. Just finished Midnight Blue by L.J. Shen and loved it! Devoured it!

That sucks 😣 even though im home for a few days from work everyone else is home too so i havent been able to read much 🙄
I'm still struggling with reading... but I'm going to open up April's challenges...if anyone is interested.
Thank god for reading! My job is so very depressing, I’m getting sooo many people losing their jobs, their businesses are going under. They are crying, and I’m trying to console, they can’t afford food, the list goes on. I even had a deceased and the government has bought in regulations where no more than 10 people attend and their were 7 siblings. There’s still not many groceries or toilet paper. It’s like a bad dream. And some people just won’t stay 2 meters away, I have keep saying will you please step back!
This is a nightmare.... I live in Portugal and we already have 7443 infected and 160 deaths. We are a small country. Our hospitals were not prepared. We are in a emergency state now but a few things are opened (essentials) like pharmacies, supermarkets...
I work in a hotel and we closed for tourists but we are opened for medical people, like doctors,nurses... I was working until today, now the hotel is on lay off and only a small amount of people is there. I´m relieved I´m not one of them. Lots of people are working at home, the ones who can, some are going to loose their jobs...let´s hope this will end very soon

Thoughts and prayers, Catia. This is all so unsettling and scary. Everything is an unknown - jobs, income, health, supplies. It's hard to stay positive when everything in the news and online only highlights the gloom and doom of it all. It's next to impossible to find anything uplifting, but we all need a boost so we can stay somewhat sane. They say to enjoy your time with your family, take time of personal care, do some projects, etc. - but many are living in a state of flux and worry. We aren't at home relaxing. We are working from home and/or home schooling, trying to keep from strangling the spouse and/or kids, trying to muddle through as best we can. It helps that we are all in the same boat, but it's easy to give in to depression, anxiety and outright fear. I haven't been able to read more than a few pages, and reading has always been my refuge. This too shall pass, and I will just choose each day to try to focus on the fact that I am hugely blessed right now with health, a job, some wonderful friends, and enough toilet paper!!!

AMEN! you hit it right on :)
So sorry everyone is going through this nightmare. I think this is a great place for us to vent about things that are going on in our parts of the world. Good and bad.Nashville is getting more and more cases, and I'm hoping that our rural area won't get the overflow since we're right next to it.
Just know that you and your families are all in my prayers.
It’s only just starting here in Australia, and I must say our government here have been fantastic. They have shut most things down. And tv adds, radio adds continually about keeping your distance. I’m still working as I’m an essential service. But the anxiety is huge. We are getting a lot of reports from all over the world and Trump is really showing his colors. I always thought he was amazing but he is truly out of his depth and not willing to make the hard decisions, from what is reported in Aussie. We have approximately 5500 cases and 19 have died. But I feel the people working on it and the way they have tackled everything have led to this result. They have closed the borders to the other states. Stopped international travel, interstate travel. All sporting clubs are closed, schools universities limits on food. Gyms closed, beauty salons, most retail shops have closed. They have reopened closed hospitals and respirators are being made at a high rate for delivery next week. Good luck to everyone. I’m trying not to look at the news too much as it’s affecting my mental health. ❤️ be safe❤️

Well said, Lisa! It is all so surreal. I haven't been able to read much either. It used to be a great relaxing escape!
Texas governor has said all schools out until at least May 4th *insert Star Wars day joke* but will probably end up being longer. Even though these first weeks of online learning have been somewhat smooth. I want to go back to school and see my students. I know the kids are struggling to deal with this unsettling time, as well.
Cátia, I am happy that you are able to keep working and hope your coworkers are able to return soon! The stress of what next can be overwhelming
Renee, I hope the Nashville numbers level off and do not reach you!
Sending positive thoughts to everyone!
I'm struggling. Most of you know, I'm a school nurse now...so obviously am not working in the building as all school buildings here in NY...where it is hitting the hardest here in the US...are closed. Before working in the school however, I worked labor and delivery and the NICU and before that I worked the ER and ICU. I'm waffling between what I feel is my duty to go back to that life...and my now life, where my children need me, my husband who is essential personnel, is still working and needs me. I have severe asthma and high blood pressure...and autoimmune problems...I'm a walking target for COVID-19. But...I have the knowledge. I have the skills and the capability to care for people stricken with disease. It's so incredibly difficult to make the choice to protect myself or to serve the masses. Add to that, there's the very real possibility there will be a nurse's draft coming. It scares me to think that I may not be given a choice soon.
Be well, my friends...stay home and wash your hands!!!

Grey - there is absolutely nothing wrong with - in fact there is everything right with - the need to protect your family and yourself taking precedence over wanting to help others. What an awful decision to try to grapple with - and what a terrible thing if the choice is taken out of your hands and they draft medical personnel. I cannot wait for this all to be over with so I can hug and personally thank every medical professional I see. There are many heroes in all of this, but all medical staff are on the front lines and brave and strong beyond belief. You may have all signed up for a career of helping others, but not at the risk of getting this awful disease because you don't have the proper medical PPE. I had not yet broken down and cried over everything going on. But THIS...this makes me cry.
Can I just say how glad I am my daughter hasn't graduated from nursing school yet?! I'd be a nervous wreck!

I've felt very emotional watching the news stories and seeing how overwhelmed the medical staff is in New York. It's hard to comprehend.

Completely agree with Lisa - Grey, you need to look after yourself and yours. We are on lockdown herein the UK. Being reviewed after Easter but expect it to be extended. I am lucky enough to be able to work from home, we have been asked to take a pay cur but that is not anything in this climate. It is weird seeing streets with no cars or people and empty buses. Our local hospital has done an Amazon wish list for the doctors and nurses working - simple things like cuppa soup, tea, red bull etc to keep them going - I happily purchased something to help - I personally can’t help (no medical skills whatsoever) all I can do is stay at home as requested and pray this will soon be over.

That way people who dont have much to give can still do a small gift that is appreciated.

My daughter works in a hospital and patients are stealing everything. Hand sanitizer, masks, gloves everything. So they don’t even have the basics in the hospital. So that’s such a great idea. B
Grey wrote: "I'm struggling. I do think your family is your first priority, especially since your hubby is a first responder. I hope you don't have to go back to the front lines. It is not selfish to want for one of the parents in your family to be home to take care of your children. I am sad that you are having to battle with whether you might have to go back or not.
I am a physical education teacher in Texas. My situation is like Lisa's. I am fortunate to be able to work at home with pay. My son's are both seniors in high school so this is hitting them hard. They have to make college decisions in these times when everything is on hold and insecure. But we are blessed and hopeful.
I thank you for keeping our little reading community in tact and up-to-date fro us. These challenges and the reading is one of the main things that is keeping me sane right now.
https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entr...This is a small gesture but I am amazed at how many people are doing this. There were lots of people on our street clapping and banging pans, showing our appreciation for all those carers out there.

Hey, Paula! I was thinking the other day that it seemed like a bit since I'd seen you! That Amazon wish list IS a great idea!
Nay, are you going okay? Make sure you stay home? I’ve been worried about you!
I need to bring you to Australia and look after you!

Melinda--Doing okay so far, thanks! I'm staying in and staying away from everyone in my household as much as possible as long as anyone is still working. And I have one of the good N95 masks for when I need it.
