Robin Hill (robinhill) | 1528 comments T. and I for sure want a "levels" like challenge. We've been talking about it and are willing to come up with one similar to this years. Maybe 50 books with a wild card or two so you can opt out of categories you're dreading? Let me know what you think. If no one else is interested we can just do it in my group.

I'm cool with anything. However Grey came up with the last one was great, but if she did it herself and doesn't want to mess with it, we can all add stuff! I just like a year long thing that you check off like a Yahzee card!

message 2211: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) I'm in with whatever. I love all challenges! I need to look at that Time list again. I remember not really wanting to read any of them the last time I looked at it, though.

Getting ready to see where I am on my levels challenge. I'm almost scared to look. 😬

Leslie | 2430 comments Judy, I think it was Nay who came up with NSFL because most of the ladies in this group love really depressing/sad books and I am afraid of them. I especially hate books with MCs dying and non-HEA's. A perfect example of a NSFL book that you read is

I'm thinking the challenge list is mostly doable. Especially, if it's all open to interpretation. For example, I'll read a book with a character with one of my kids' names, because there ain't no way I'll find something I want to read with my name in it. 🤣 I'll probably also take creative latitude with the "trilogy" option. I lucked out this year with that one.

Hey guys, I just wanted to post the link to the 2020 challenges. I know, holy crap!

There's the Pick for Me Challenge, because...just because I don't think I can exist without it. My 52 in 52 Challenge, which I don't think will be as difficult as it sounds. And I brought back an old favorite, which I need your assistance with....the Themes Challenge! So, head here, and sign up, please!!

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments Anyone else having problems updating progress on books they are reading? I don't have the link available to track progress (and I know the whole world is waiting to see my updates, and I hate to disappoint, LOL) This also means I don't have the link available to click on for when I'm all finished.

Sigh!!!! I think I remember this happening last year too.

I can't either... I can post a general update. But I can't post a book update. Weird. Goodreads in general, was real glitchy for me yesterday. Posting all of the challenge thread stuff was super difficult and time consuming. (Thank you all for your patience!!!)

For now, you have to go to your individual profile page or the specific book page. There you can record your reading updates.

Melinda Ruyten | 1027 comments I’m reading the wives just started. But we are away water ski ing at the moment and have 12 people at our holiday house. So I may be a bit busy for a few days.

message 2243: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) FYI in case anyone is still having site issues--GR is indeed doing maintenance. It's much better today than it's been the past couple of days, but a large part of the site that librarians use to combine and merge/delete editions of books is down for an entire week, and I'm sure that has to be affecting the rest of the site as well. This particular maintenance will be finished on Monday.

I wish I could jump in on The Wives, but I won't have it for another 5 weeks and I don't know if it's worth it to use one of my precious Audible credits.

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments Just needing a place to vent and put it all out there in the world - My mom fell at home twice last Sunday (a week ago) and has been the hospital since. She lives with my brother, but he wasn't home at the time and even though she has one of those medic alert buttons, she didn't press it because she didn't want to bother anyone. Instead she tried to get herself up and ended up doing more damage - lying of the floor for two hours caused her to get Sepsis, and apparently she had a case of e-Coli brewing unbeknownst to her too. So, she's now in the hospital, can't do anything for herself because she can't get up and move. They're talking about getting her into a rehab facility, but it's a long road ahead of her, and I don't think she wants to do the work it's going to take to get her moving again. She's 83 years old, tired, afraid of the pain and physical work it will take, and she just wants the Good Lord to take her. And then this weekend my husband and I moved from a house to a two-bedroom apartment (we are in that downsizing part of our lives). So we had my Mom, the move, and my grouchy ass husband who thinks that we have to be unpacked like yesterday. My cat is in hiding because she's not sure what she thinks of her new home. So, I'm worried she's never going to eat or drink again (and it's only been a day) Ohhhh, the dramatics!!! Cue the woe is me sign!!!

I know we ALL deal with this crap, but every now and then you just need to break down somewhere safe where people will hold your heart gently and let you be less than strong. And that's what you guys are to me :) I love you all to tiny bits and pieces!!!
