I just got to tell you. I have a new puppy that’s 8 weeks. It’s exhausting and I just haven’t any time to read. It’s like having a new baby. Anyway if you notice I’m not on much or not reading. It’s because he’s taking all my time. Anyway it’s so nice to have in the house as we’ve had such a terrible year.

Enjoy your pup, Melinda! They are definitely a lot of work, but there's nothing like their bologna breath!
I wish I could put a photo on here, he is sooo cute he’s 1kg. Full of beans. Into everything. He. Doesn’t have bologna breath yet.......... nothing like. Puppy to make everything in the world right. Great therapy....... I am just getting nothing done.......

Hi, everyone!
Just wanted to pop in and see what everyone is thinking about challenges for next year? Are there some we like?? some we don't... let's discuss and make a plan!

I like the levels challenge, but I think we all picked the biggest one so I'm fine with that number again. I could do without the link that was supposed to rec a book though because I picked one I don't like and now I can't change it because the link is dead. 😆

More buddy reads!! I know that's not a challenge, but I really, really miss them. When I'm in a funk-ish state, that's the one thing that'll get me reading. And thank you for reminding me that I sorely need to update my levels challenge and figure out how many books I need to cram into the next 3 weeks.
There are tons of other ideas on the internet too. Even if it's just something like the alphabet challenge. I'm up for all of them!
Robin--what are you talking about with the link being dead? I'm so confused.

Good lord. I didn't click on the right thing. Ignore me. Now I'm just mad I wasted an audible credit on a NA book!
I simply do not want to read any of the books on the all-time favorite list according to Time. None of them are floating my boat...or I've read them in the past. I thought I'd listen to Lolita but it was not something I think I want to listen to...not sure what to do about that one on the Levels challenge....

I'm flexible and will go with the group on the challenges. I do like having the PFM because I think that it nudges me to read ones I know I want to read but somehow don't prioritize otherwise. So, I hope we keep that one!

I loved having a reading goal like the levels challenge vs. just a random number of books to read.
I finished the challenge, but my least favorite was "43.) A book from Time's All-time top 100 book list" Of course, "Top 100" is subjective, but I don't think that there was one book on that list that sparked an interest for me. I only read the book that I did, because it was short and I had to mark it off my list. I feel like these types of "Top 100" lists reflect the people who have prejudice against romantic literature. There wasn't one decent classic romance on the list and I would have to say that Jane Austen, The Bronte's, Madame Bovary, and even the risque Lady Chatterly's Lover are on the top of many lists for literature. A list like this next one or something like it could be fun for us primarily romance readers. https://www.travellingbookjunkie.com/...

Sorry, ladies. I was writing my comment while you two were, as well. I guess we're in agreement for the most part. Haha!
Ok, so in all fairness, Gone With the Wind (and I loved the movie...it's an oldie) is on that list...but good lord, it's like 700 or 800 pages long....Momma does not have time for that nonsense in the 11th hour of December.I will read stuff other than romance...but I do have to be in the mood and I'm currently feeling "crunched"....my own fault of course...
I do like your suggestion T.!
I definitely think we should keep Pick For Me. I lurve that one! As far as others, I started out doing Levels, but it got too complicated, and it was just another goal I wasn't going to reach and got stressed out about. I kind of liked the one where 12 of us volunteered to pick some type of theme book for each month, i.e. Pink Cover, Title Contains a Particular Letter, Title Contains a Number, etc. We have enough whackadoodle fun people here that it was pretty entertaining and creative.
I have a suggestion too...I think the favorites list fell by the wayside this year but maybe what we could do is include it in the Levels challenge. Maybe read a certain # of books from the favorite's list as part of the levels challenge as opposed to it being it's own monthly challenge. Maybe only 4 of them...one per quarter. I don't know...just throwing something out there. I liked that one but I know it just became cumbersome to maintain all of the monthly stuff.
