Melinda Ruyten | 1027 comments And we had to pay for 4 new flights.

As bloody Latam Airlines wouldn’t fast track the exchange of the ticket.

But we are now on the plane. Waiting for take off.

I will check when we arrive Robin.

I should be able to claim through credit card though.

message 1603: by Robin (new)

Robin Hill (robinhill) | 1528 comments That sucks about the flights Melinda! Fingers crossed your credit card company helps!

Don't worry about the ARC! Just enjoy your vacay and whenever you want to read I'll help you get it. She's in no hurry, just grateful for the interest.

Tessa | 1761 comments Wow, I miss a day. *hugs Melinda* I'm so glad it worked out for you! Your husband sounds awesome and thank goodness you get a month away from that boss, though, what he's doing can't be allowed. :( Have a great time on your trip!

message 1605: by Melinda (new)

Melinda Ruyten | 1027 comments Thankyou Tessa, I joined the union. But as it escalated so fast. The union wouldn’t assist as I just joined, but another boss said to me that my card was that fact they bullied me so much, my husband had to step in. It must have been bad and they then didn’t want to talk about that. But finally we are here now for one month. My eldest daughter couldn’t come, so she is making me take aspirin, as she thinks I’m going to have a heart attack.

message 1606: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments Take the time off away from this, and hopefully, it will get resolved quickly.

I hope everyone else is experiencing the same giddiness I am...

No giving up! Hang in there, even if it's just by a glittery thread!

message 1613: by Jan (new)

Jan (jan130) *hugs Ela* I'm struggling to keep up with the challenges too. Some months you just can't. Don't stress. You can try again next month.

message 1614: by Michele (new)

Michele (guilliem) | 2131 comments Ela, don't let this stress you out. This is supposed to be for fun. Just do what you can and let it go. We aren't going to judge here because next month, it could be one of us who is in that position. Hugs to you girl. Get your booty back in here and let that stress go. Just do what you can...hugs!!

Jenn Keller (bluejenn116) | 425 comments Yes Ela what everyone else has said. *hugs* my friend.
January was good for me, but February even though it just started not so much-I have not finished one book I have started and I have started 3 and I am so not the reader that can have multiple books going at one time but they are just not holding my attention as I have too much side stuff going on...it happens so I just say f*ck it and move on. Not always easy I know. You'll get it back as will I :-)
hang in there girl!

message 1616: by [deleted user] (new)

Ela, just do one....or none. Dont push yourself into a slump. I am just doing the pick for me, but honestly got anxiety last time i posted on that thread. Heart in throat and racing. I think more to do with other things, but not sure i will keep up with it at the moment.

message 1617: by Jean (new)

Jean | 1658 comments Ela, no worries. I'm stressing over all the challenges too and work is also kicking my ass this year! WTF, don't they know we have books to read?!?!?!?

message 1618: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Ela--I'm out of it too. You're not alone!

message 1619: by Teri (new)

Teri (ldyridr) | 85 comments Jean wrote:! WTF, don't they know we have books to read?!?!?!?"
See, this is how I feel. There are way too many books to read to be wasting my life away at work. Not to mention chatting with the ladies of the WolfPack thread :-)

message 1620: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments I decided not to do Romanceopoly. Just gonna do PFM and Levels. When I feel like joining in on BOOM I will. Same for Reader Favorites. It should be a fun way to try to get your next read in when you have thousands to choose from and not add extra stress.

message 1621: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Ela, sorry things are so stressful. Just read whatever you want when you have time and chat with us.

I'm only doing the pick for me (that doesn't stress me out) and the levels one (cause its a yearly one). Romanceopoly, favorites, and BOOM all stress me out.

message 1622: by JudyCa (new)

JudyCa | 1709 comments Chill girl! 😁 No stress allowed in book world, lol...I'm also only doin PFM and the Boom if I can...life is stressful enough 😉 ❤️

JudyCa | 1709 comments Ela, do not read this 😍
For everyone who's a 'C' lover...I just finished The Letters and A Different Kind Of December: A Carnage Short Story they were both great! And there's a new one coming out this year about Paige, Len and Jimmie's daughter 😁

Same! I like the favorites because I'm just picking books I wanted to read anyway. :P And if I'm late, I'm known for my mood reading. :D

Ela, if you look last year, I didn't get most of my books done, or at least on time. If you can't read it, you can't. That's okay. *hugs*

message 1640: by Jan (new)

Jan (jan130) I'm not doing any challenges this month except a couple with my HR group. But I might come back to pfm next month if I don't feel too rushed.

message 1641: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) I've read all but Dirty Billionaire. Is that something I should put on the tbr or has its ship probably already sailed?

Ela--I'm doing favorites.

Jenn, Michelle, and maybe Judy, and I are BRing Midnight Valentine for it if you want to join in. We need to set a date. I'm going to that thread right now to try to pin something down so that we don't let it pass us by.

Teri (ldyridr) | 85 comments Tessa wrote: "I have literally read every book on that list. Literally! Of them, my favorite was In Flight. :)"

Good to know! A few are new to me, a few I have no interest in and a few sound very familiar as if I've read them year(s) ago... Now I'm adding In Flight to my list, whoop!

message 1643: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Seeing the confusion from the other thread re: re-lease of Sex, Love Repeat it reminded me of another one.

Dear Bridget, I Want You Dear Bridget, I Want You by Penelope Ward changed to British Bedmate British Bedmate by Penelope Ward

I've been duped a few times when authors do this.

message 1644: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Here's another:

Bad Mommy Bad Mommy by Tarryn Fisher changed to: I Can Be A Better You I Can Be A Better You by Tarryn Fisher

I've been changing A LOT of covers (and some titles, and even some series names) for authors on GR. I think when their sales are stagnant, they want to try something different, which is really pretty smart. Especially for Dear Bridget, I Want You--what an improvement from the first cover!

message 1645: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Nay, I get it from a marketing perspective but as a reader its confusing and annoying. 😕However, if they CLEARLY STATE it's a re-release, I can forgive the author. 😉

P.S. new covers/same title is not as bad, but still kind of bother me. I'm just a big crabby grouch. 🦀

message 1646: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) No you’re not, Leslie! It’s completely annoying to buy a book and realize you’ve already read it!

I agree with everything you said. I think there should be a sentence about the change at the top of the blurb of the new edition in bold. It’s not good for readers to feel duped, even though I’m sure that’s not the intention; however, before social media got popular, I can remember a few authors making changes and not making it clear to the reader at all. People would buy the book and realize they’d already read it and we’d have to go on a hunting expedition to find some tiny print somewhere that it was a reprint. Nowadays, they’re liable to have an angry online mob come after them for not disclosing it.

Tessa | 1761 comments Leslie wrote: "P.S. new covers/same title is not as bad, but still kind of bother me. I'm just a big crabby grouch. 🦀 "

OMG, I hated when that happened when I was buying a paperback. You spend 7.99 on a new book only to realize, hey, I've read this! I had to return so many books as a result of the new covers.

message 1648: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Funny that we were talking about this today. I just got finished changing covers, titles, and series name for an author. She did a major overhaul. Changed her blurbs too. None of y'all had her on your tbr, though.

Tell her to put in BIG LETTERS it's a re-release of an old book. Her fans will not be happy if she doesn't.

message 1650: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Did any of the fans of the Of Love and Madness series happen to see in your feed where Karen commented that she's working on Billy's POV for book #3?

This is the gist of it:

I'm currently working on another story for the series after being asked numerous times to focus on Billy during the time he and Kate were apart, and then pick up with another storyline where they reconnect. I wasn't sure there was more to tell, but I think I've got it.

Readers have asked for more Billy, so that's what I'm doing. Wait until you see the cover! I'm dying!! We FOUND Billy in all his glory. :-D

I hope you'll check it out when the story publishes later this year or early next.

Karen is a member of this group. Maybe she'll keep us posted??? And I can't wait to see Billy "in all his glory"!!
