Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments I missed your face, Judy!!! But glad to see you were gone for a good reason...and way to rub it in that you have another annual girls weekend coming up! You gonna join us for the Bad Mommy buddy read that Ela totally cheated on and already read? I think it's set to start on June 1 - which might be pre-empted by girls' weekend fun!!!

Leslie | 2430 comments Melinda, I wish it was title of book that could start with "U"....but its the character name!! Ugh!

How many names even start with "U"?

Ursula, Ulma, Ulysses....

message 1161: by Robin (new)

Robin Hill (robinhill) | 1528 comments I found this one but it's not romance! https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...

message 1165: by Nay (last edited Jun 03, 2018 06:42AM) (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Leslie--can it be the last name?

I looked at an old challenge on GR, and besides the one that Melinda mentions, a lot of people read this one:

Black Ice (Ice #1) by Anne Stuart--heroine is Chloe Underwood

I would think there'd be quite a few with last names beginning with U, but I guess remembering them is the problem.

In this one, the stepsister is named Ursula... does that work? If You Can't Stand the Heat (Poppy Markham Culinary Cop, #1) by Robin Allen

message 1170: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Bummer Grey! It has to be h or H. ☹

message 1171: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Ugh! Is anyone besides me getting a bunch of bogus friend requests? I've been flagging them left and right.

message 1172: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments YES! The worst is one trying to get me to their website.

message 1173: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments I have heard of other GR members complaining of this, but it hasnt happened to me yet. How annoying!

message 1174: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Since Saturday, I've gotten 3 from 3 different 'people' in 3 different countries with the same link that directs you to an ebook pirating website. You can always tell when they have no friends or books, especially if they have a 'hotmail' address (not that all hotmail addresses are fake). And then I've gotten about 5 more in the past month that I can tell are simply fake.

message 1175: by Grey (new)

Grey | 2385 comments Mod
yep, me too... and heeeey! I use hotmail. *pouts*

message 1176: by Jan (new)

Jan (jan130) Yeh I've had a few lately. Annoying! Pretty sus when they haven't got any books listed LOL. I've had a couple with Cyrillic writing in their profile too. (which I can't read anyway!)

message 1177: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Me too, Jan. I was going to mention that as well. I've had 3 or 4 like that. What the heck??

Hey Renee! Sorry just creeping back through here...there is a book coming out this month that you might like...I've pre-ordered One Week One Week by Roya Carmen

message 1179: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) You already know me so well, Judy--I preordered it on the 23rd, and I was just reviewing it this morning to remind myself when it's coming out!

Thanks for looking out for me because this is definitely something I will like, hopefully love!!

Nooo...
I will (im)patiently wait with the rest of you, lovies, so we can do a right proper buddy read on release day! We haven't had a release day buddy read in a while...

message 1188: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Judy--forgot to answer your question that I did read Ground Rules series and LOVED it!

It's so strange that I would NEVER entertain swinging/swapping/sharing in my marriage, but I LOVED reading about it. Same with the week long hall pass on the new one.

My hubs works for the management office of his building and is very outgoing, so he knows all the tenants, and I can hardly handle hearing about the women who leave notes on his windshield, give him food, call him--he even had one woman offer for him to come over to her house on a Saturday so that she could 'update his resume' for him. I told him I'm getting ready to cut a bitch! NO ONE is updating his resume except me! lol

message 1189: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Nay, I am busting a gut laughing over here. 🤣

Seriously though...whats with all the skanks flirting with a married man?

Re: Ground Rules I cant believe I loved that story as much as I did because "sharing" typically turns me off. Perhaps because it felt more like a love triangle for the h.

message 1190: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Leslie--they've always flirted with him, but when I got really sick 2 years ago and was in the hospital for a month, all of these women amped it up. Cooking for him (and my boys) or bringing them groceries, and don't get me wrong, it was SO, so sweet and we appreciated it SO much, but then it continued. I think they all want to 'be there' for him.

One woman gave him a cooler full of fresh trout that she caught with her own two hands the day before! That was just too much. We call her 'stalker chick'! lol

Oh, and I should mention in case anyone's wondering how the heck these women got his cell phone number--it's the one he also uses for his work, and the property manager sometimes gives it to people (to his chagrin) so that they can reach him directly.

message 1191: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Wow! That is crazy. Its one thing to help someone out as a friend but a different story to be all flirty and inviting a married man to your house on a saturday. Jeesh! What a bunch of horny hoes!

message 1192: by Melinda (new)

Melinda Ruyten | 1027 comments Nay, you are funny.

My hubby was taking my youngest daughter to a Tudor and my other daughter works at the Tudoring place and one of the girls she works with said her dad was hot. Steph said I nearly vomited and said. “that’s my dad”. The girl was 22 years.

So yeah, it’s funny. My hubby just laughed.

Tell me about it! But I think it makes my hubs feel good to see me ranting about it, although it's partly in jest.

And it's good that you can laugh about it Melinda. You have to be able to laugh or it'll drive you crazy.

message 1194: by JudyCa (new)

JudyCa | 1709 comments Omg you're hilarious!!! I can't believe they'd be all up in there like that...he must be hot! 😉 And nice and sweet 😍
I didn't think I'd like it as much either but I couldn't put it down! That's the fun thing about fiction...in RL, not a f-ing chance...I'm not a jealous person at all, but, just no...lol

yeah, me neither... I love to read about it... In real life. just no... but as my so-charming husband tells me, he married up, he's the one who should be worried, not me. *giggle*

good on him...that's the way they all should think, lol :) :)

message 1197: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 14 comments Oh my goodness! Renee, fresh trout? What is wrong with some people!? I would have called her ‘stalker chick’ too! It makes me think of the Catana relationship meme of ‘when someone is checking out babe a little too hard.’
Grey, my boyfriend tells me the same thing. However a few years ago someone at work thought he was cute and my reaction was, “See!! I told you you are cute!!’ And he was all, ‘that’s why I didn’t want to say anything.’ He should just admit I’m right all the time, it would make his life so much easier. You’d think after almost 10 years he would know that by now. 🙃

I’m with everyone, I do like reading about it though! I loved The Ground Rules (I just preordered One Week. Thanks for the heads up about that!) and I liked Lover by Marni Mann and Gia Riley.
