Melinda Ruyten | 1027 comments Tessa, is the douchbag book Good?

message 602: by Ela (new)

Ela | 4291 comments Are you a pnr fan?

message 603: by Melinda (new)

Melinda Ruyten | 1027 comments No not really. More fluffy romance, or angsty stuff. Actually love the angst.

message 604: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments The Douchbag book was good! The H was seriously the sweetest thing, and the romance was a slow burn. Anyone who likes sweet heroes, you'd fall for that one.

message 605: by Melinda (new)

Melinda Ruyten | 1027 comments Oh Thankyou, I'm jumping from one to another to another then back and forwards. Just can't find anything.

message 606: by Melinda (new)

Melinda Ruyten | 1027 comments Any suggestions?

message 607: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments Douchbag. Hmm, also Prime Minister by Ainsley Booth was pretty angsty and LJ Shen books are high are angst.

I can tell it's only 6:30. My brain isn't working yet.

message 608: by Melinda (new)

Melinda Ruyten | 1027 comments I'm just about to go to bed. It's 11.39pm the 28th September. I give up. I will check in the morning. Thanks for the suggestions. I loved torn between two. Something like that. If you can think of any.

message 609: by Melinda (new)

Melinda Ruyten | 1027 comments Maybe I will try douchbag??? Looking at Kirsten Ashley new one too.

message 610: by Leslie (last edited Sep 28, 2017 07:36AM) (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Melinda, if you are looking for another love triangle, I don't think you have read:

Bait Bait (Wake, #1) by M. Mabie
Collide Collide (Collide, #1) by Gail McHugh
Letting Go Letting Go (Mitchell Family, #1) by Jennifer Foor
Avoiding Commitment Avoiding Commitment (Avoiding, #1) by K.A. Linde

For a more "fluffy" read, I saw Buns Buns (Hudson Valley, #3) by Alice Clayton on your TBR. I really liked that one.

message 611: by Melinda (new)

Melinda Ruyten | 1027 comments Aaaaw thanks Leslie, I have read avoiding commitment, colliding. I will check out the other two. And Buns might try that.

lol Even when I was younger, I'd have been all... GIMME! (Remember, first book boyfriend: Bruce Patman)

message 614: by Jan (new)

Jan (jan130) I think my first book boyfriend would have been a tall, dark, handsome, laconic farmer-type from some lame old Mills and Boon (aka Harlequin romance). They may have kissed by the end of the book, but no sex, pleaze. LOL. I can't even remember his name now. Sigh....

message 615: by Melinda (new)

Melinda Ruyten | 1027 comments And it's really good and I'm enjoying it. So yeah it is. Thanks Tessa😜

message 616: by Nay (last edited Oct 02, 2017 05:44AM) (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Hey everyone! I'm baaaaack! (I hope!) The last two and a half months are a blur, but I'm ready to get back into the swing of things again. First, my health is great, as far as I know. I've been worn out, but that's it.

My mom passed away on Sept 9, and my brother and I were with her (I basically lived at his house for the 2 weeks she was there while she was under hospice care).

Then, the day after she died, my brother had a 3-wheeler wreck (he was grieving and not exactly being as safe as he should have been). He thought it was nothing until last weekend when the pain became too much, so he finally went to the ER and they found that he had 3 broken ribs, a pulmonary embolism, 'water on the lungs', a collapsed lung, and a puncture in his lung from one of the broken ribs. So he was in the hospital for a week--just went home yesterday.

So anyway, now that things are finally going to slow down (fingers crossed), I want to get my life and my friends back! Thanks so much for all your prayers and kind words. They helped me so much while this was going on!

message 617: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Nay, so sorry about your mom. My sympathies for you and your family. I have been there and it is devasting. I hope you have some peace that you were able to be by her side at the end. That is so scary about your brother. Thank goodness he is ok now. What an awful thing to go through. *sending big hugs and positive energy your way*

message 618: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Thank you! I'm getting the estate sale done this week and then I'm ready to have a big, fat N-O-T-H-I-N-G going on in my life for a good, long while! (knock on wood) lol

message 619: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments Nay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been so worried about you and you were in my constant thoughts. I have missed you so very very much. You have been through so much in such a short time. I am so very sorry about your mom. How beautiful that you were able to spend that time with her though. I am glad that your brother is okay, and I'll pray for a speedy recovery. And most of all, I will pray that you get some peace. I look forward to enjoying a good buddy read or two with you!! Heart hugs!!!!

message 620: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Lisaaaaaa!!!!! Thanks so much. The prayers are what have gotten me through all of this. My big lug of a brother will be fine. He's 8 years younger than me, so he's just a baby! lol

I'm really looking forward to some buddy reads! I want to do nothing but read until the end of the year!!

message 621: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments READING MARATHON WITH NAY FOR THE REST OF 2017!!

Woot! Woot!

🎉🎈🎊🎆

message 622: by Robin (new)

Robin Hill (robinhill) | 1528 comments Nay! I'm so happy you're back. I'm so sorry about your mom and brother. How scary! I'm glad he's ok. We missed you! I'm happy you're enjoying MIAL. It's the kind of book you can take your time with anyway. As far as books you missed? I'd say Ghosted for sure, and if you want something different, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. Other than that I can only recommend the ARCs/betas I've been reading and they don't start hitting until later this month. A Charm of Finches is freaking fantastic and I think the preorder price is lower right now. I'm also reading Forever Right Now and #swoon.

message 623: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Hey Robin! Yay! So Ghosted is KU and I just preordered A Charm of Finches. I had that marked for December, so thrilled to see it's coming 11/1. That will have to be a BR!

How's it going with YOUR book?

You will LOVE Ghosted! So far I haven't seen a single review (from someone I know anyway) who didn't. My book is actually picking up speed! As of this AM I'll finish my edits from my toughest beta reader (they took me months). Then I have 3 chapters to revise and it's off to editing 11/6! Thanks for asking! ❤❤❤

message 625: by Ela (new)

Ela | 4291 comments Renee! Welcome back! My deepest condolences.

Tessa | 1761 comments Ugh, I do hope the rest of the year is peaceful for you Nay.

Paula White | 800 comments Nay - so sorry to hear about your mum. Fingers crossed that the rest of the year is a peaceful one for you xx

message 628: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Thanks so much! I'm so glad to 'see' everyone!

Robin--glad it's progressing! I so wanted to beta read, but hopefully I'll be able to do so on the next one!

I'm off to my mom's. One thing that's come out of this is that I've finally gotten a smartphone, so now, I can try to keep up with what's going on when I'm away. Just have to get into the habit of checking it!

It will be second nature before you know it. I'm doing a final round of betas after editing. I'll see where you're at when that happens.

message 630: by Jan (new)

Jan (jan130) So sorry to hear about your Mum, Nay. You and your brother have had such a difficult time too. I hope that things are on a better track for you now. Have some down time if you can, and enjoy all the fabulous books out there.

NAY!!!! *tackle hug* God, I have MISSED YOU!!!! My deepest sympathies on the loss of your mom... and ugh, a smack (gentle, of course) for your brother on scaring you... I am glad he is healing! My prayers for all of your family,

We've been pretty quiet around here, I think back to school time is busy for a lot of us... I know myself, I've been CRAZY busy, working 10+ hour days and then I'm chauffeuring my kids around to all their various activities... not a lot of down time for me.

I am looking forward to a long weekend this coming up weekend for Columbus day... maybe we can schedule a buddy read of some sort...

And Robin... *rubs hands together* you forgot... you can't wait to ship your book to your favorite proofer... *giggle* Love you!

*throw glitter and confetti* Yay it's a party!

Melinda Ruyten | 1027 comments Oh Nay, you have been through the ringer, so sorry so hear about you Mum and then your brother. Hopefully your luck has turned for the better. Great to have you back. We missed you. 😘

message 634: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Thanks again, everyone. Can't wait to talk books and start reading again. You'd think I had gads of time to read through all of this, but it seems like I could barely find time to even rest, much less read.

Robin--that sounds great! I'd love to look at it then.

message 635: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments Nay, I just want to say again how glad I am to see you are back!!! That is all...you may now all move about the cabin!!

message 636: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) 😘

message 637: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) I need help, everyone! It's been so long since I've read a book, besides a paragraph here and there, that I need a fresh, new book to read to get me rolling again.

Can y'all suggest anything that's come out in the last few months that's good and angsty? I've missed so many new releases--surely there was something released that some of you read and just gushed over??

message 638: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments Have you read Everything We Keep and Everything We Left Behind by Kerry Lonsdale? I loved those. Or My Image of You by Melanie Moreland? That was just a really good romance with some angst.
Ooooo....The Man I Thought You Were by Leah Mercer...OMG, that was a 5 star angst fest for me!!! I just teared up thinking about it!!!

I've heard great things about Muscle Memory (Stylo Fantome) and Unloved (Katy Regenery) and my personal one I'm dying to read Ghosted (J.M. Darhower)

message 639: by Grey (new)

Grey | 2385 comments Mod
I personally, 4.5 star loved, Unloved by Katy Regnery, it was pretty amazing... you can read my review of it... I haven't read much lately though either.

message 640: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Nay, Bad Romance is the angsty one the ladies over at Maryse's have been most recently gushing over.

Bad Romance by Heather Demetrios

message 641: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments Nay, there is a book coming out next Tuesday that a lot of us liked or loved called Begin Again by Mona Kasten. You might check that one out next week. :)

message 642: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments Holy crap - I just realized I have an ARC of Begin Again by Mona Kasten. Thought it sounded familiar. Guess I better read that.

That being said - is there anyone who wants to do a Buddy Read a little later on this month of The Ghostwriter by Alessandra Torre? It looks amazing to me!!!

message 643: by Melinda (new)

Melinda Ruyten | 1027 comments Yes, yesLisa, hands up, I will. Her books are amazing.

message 644: by Melinda (new)

Melinda Ruyten | 1027 comments Nay, I have read Begin again. It's really good. Also another one I really liked is about a rock star that's very angsty and a lawyer called torn between two by Mia Kayla. I loved that one.

message 645: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Lisa--Me, me, me!!!!!

Ok, let me check all these out and get them shelved! Thank you!!! And of course, if anyone else comes along with any suggestions, I'll take them.
