Paula White | 800 comments OK - my daughter is 21 on Tuesday! 21!!! How did that happen?? Family and friends BBQ today - I have a feeling it is going to be messy - lots of alcohol and I made vodka jelly shots last night (too afraid to check the fridge this morning to see if they have set!) Wish me luck!

message 552: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Wow Paula! I always get emotional seeing kids growing up. Sniff, sniff. (my "baby" is starting his Junior year in high school and I am kinda freaking out) I hope the party is a success and you all have a blast!! 🎂🎈🎉💞

message 557: by Robin (new)

Robin Hill (robinhill) | 1528 comments Congrats Paula! And I bet they turned out great!

message 558: by Melinda (new)

Melinda Ruyten | 1027 comments Robin, I am soooo jealous it is freezing in Melbourne Australia it's midnight and its 6 degrees I hate the cold. And your taking the boat out huh. So jealous and 6 degrees is ummm 43 in Fahrenheit.

message 559: by Robin (new)

Robin Hill (robinhill) | 1528 comments I spent the day outside yesterday and it was 100 degrees Fahrenheit. OMG I was dying. But determined!

message 560: by Melinda (new)

Melinda Ruyten | 1027 comments In the summer here that's what it averages and during the night it's 90degrees but 3 months until then.

message 561: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments Oooh, the big 21! Happy birthday to your daughter and hope she has a blast!

100 degrees? EEEEW! I'd rather have the 43. lol Here's it's been a nice, temperate 82. I am TOTALLY not complaining. I know the hot months are coming. (Yes, September is always the hottest month here and Oct stays pretty hot half way through. grrr)

message 562: by Jan (new)

Jan (jan130) Congrats to your daughter, Paula. Hope she has great day.

message 563: by [deleted user] (new)

I will take the cold over the heat. Had a couple weeks earlier in the month of above 100. A couple days over 110. Insane. Come on fall.

message 564: by [deleted user] (new)

Paula, late Happy Birthday to your daughter.

Here 21 is the legal drinking age.

message 565: by Paula (new)

Paula White | 800 comments Thanks everyone! She had a great day and is suffering a bit today!
Bev - the legal drinking age here is 18 so alcohol not a new thing for her but think she mixed it up a bit yesterday and is paying the consequences!

message 566: by Melinda (new)

Melinda Ruyten | 1027 comments Has anyone rad Boytoy? it looks really good. I'm after a marmy book. I looooove those any recommmendations

message 567: by Grey (new)

Grey | 2385 comments Mod
I was going to suggest the new Aly Martinez books, but I think you've already read those...

I think the Marmy that I'm currently holding out for is the 3rs book in the Something in the Way series by Jessica Hawkins. However, there are 2 books out already.

Any chance you can wait until tomorrow to start it? I am going to finish Making Faces today - I might be able to start tonight, but I don't want you to get too far ahead of me, speedy :D

I think Tessa and I are gonna buddy read the second of the duet of Dirty Filthy Rich series.... you know us and our bullies. but I kinda want in on this one too. I love the dark

message 574: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments Same. I do love our bullies. I do want to read this one too. I might be late. :)

message 575: by Jan (new)

Jan (jan130) Um, nooooooo. Too dark and sca-ee for me.

message 576: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments Ela...I am ready to walk on the dark side and will start tonight!!

message 577: by Melinda (new)

Melinda Ruyten | 1027 comments I might join you Lisa, nearly finished my book. Should finish tonight.

message 578: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments Awesome Melinda....this one seems delightfully dark reading just the prologue and first 15% og the book

message 579: by Melinda (new)

Melinda Ruyten | 1027 comments I'm at 97%. Sounds good. I'm just finishing Dr OB. It's really good. It's by Max Munroe. 5 stars for me. Then i'ii start.

message 580: by Ela (new)

Ela | 4291 comments Well then join us on the spoiler side!

message 581: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments Okay, I read the prequel and I'm going to pass. I don't think it'll do anything to hit my triggers, but it's just too close for comfort for me to risk it happening in the back story part. :( Sorry!

message 582: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments I'll let you know afterwards how it turns out if you want, Tessa....what's your trigger(s)?

message 583: by Ela (new)

Ela | 4291 comments I don't think it will hit your triggers Tessa. Child abuse, right??? Sexual, physical and mental???? Or just sexual? Pedi's

message 584: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments Just sexual, specifically by a caretaker, family, etc like in the prequel, his dad (though it wasn't stated, thank goodness).

I'll wait until you all are done then you can send me a message just to be safe. :)

message 585: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments Oh and they can be grown adults, and it still is a nope if it's one of them.

message 586: by Melinda (new)

Melinda Ruyten | 1027 comments I'm only up to 13% Tessa and I feel a little uneasy. Might be best for you to pass. If that's a trigger.

message 587: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments I can tell you that there was no true descriptions of the abuse of the main characters. They (especially the main H) were abused as children by the main H's father, but there are no details as to what was done. Not sure if that'll be a trigger for you or not, Tessa. I found this book very disturbing, but not dark...and I'm pretty ticked off at how the mental health issues were addressed. Just didn't sit right with me.

message 588: by Melinda (new)

Melinda Ruyten | 1027 comments And you've finished! So you didn't like it? I'm just starting. I'm not as fast as you girls. The Batchelor finale in Melbourne tonight that's more important than reading. 😂😂

message 589: by Grey (new)

Grey | 2385 comments Mod
well. I didnt get anything done last night. lol! I still haven't even finished Tijan's book.

message 590: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments Oh thank you Lisa! :)

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments Melinda wrote: "And you've finished! So you didn't like it? I'm just starting. I'm not as fast as you girls. The Batchelor finale in Melbourne tonight that's more important than reading. 😂😂"

It kept me reading, and my stomach was in knots. I kept thinking I had it figured out, then I didn't, then I did. So in that respect it was good. And it took me outside myself, which is also good. I was just upset by how the mental illness aspect was portrayed is all. I gave it 3.5 rounded up to 4 instead of down!!

message 592: by Ela (new)

Ela | 4291 comments I agree with Lisa...that ending could've been explained in greater detail, the mental issues of the characters and some things were left out that I think needed to be expanded upon!

message 593: by Ela (new)

Ela | 4291 comments WHERE IS EVERYONE?

message 594: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments lol I was reading earlier this morning. :) A Douchbag book.

message 595: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments Work has been a killer...and then I never seem to make it here at night. I'm feeling pressured to finish a lot of ARCs that are a tad overdue because I keep veering off into reading other stuffs. And, now it's almost month end and time for all new challenges, which is super-exciting!!!

message 596: by Grey (new)

Grey | 2385 comments Mod
work has been killing me too

message 597: by Robin (new)

Robin Hill (robinhill) | 1528 comments I'm in ARC/beta and writing city. I'm beta'ing 2 books at the same time and reading an ARC. I have the end of another coming soon and an erotic fairy tale up next. I only beta/ARC for a handful of people and they ALL decided to put out books at the same time! Luckily, they're all awesome!

message 598: by Jan (new)

Jan (jan130) Hello Ela. I've been away on a trip to Melbourne, but I'm home now :) I've been doing a few comfort rereads of some of my dusty old paperbacks lately. I hate it when they have that really tiny font. Can't magnify it like on my kindle. First world problems......
