Alex (asato) Links to managing your identity and generally avoiding malware, viruses, and scams:

Protecting yourself on social media (like Goodreads)

The Canadian government has some great cyber resources--gotta keep the Internet safe for all of their bears and mountain men/women ;)

Passwords
Don't use a password, but instead use a longer passphrase.
Also, use a "password safe — a program that runs locally on your computer and stores passwords securely. These exist as standalone applications such as KeePass (which is available in different flavors for Windows, OS X, Linux, Android and iOS), or OS X's Keychain, and there are also password safes in many browsers."

Jen Pattison | 409 comments Thanks Alex, this is a topic that I've been researching recently. It's astounding how innovative and creative the crooks are these days. I didn't know about the password safe, so thanks for that.

Jen Pattison | 409 comments If anyone is interested, FutureLearn are doing a free online course on cyber security, it's started but you can still join and work at your own pace:

I've done a few of their courses and they're excellent. You don't have to be UK resident either.
