Amber Sutton | 5 comments I read a book about 7 years ago or so about either a brother and sister or a man and wife of nobility/royalty in Ancient egypt, the exact details escape me however! I remember there was a merchant who sold lapis laluzi who had gone out of business, maybe hiding in a marsh? The woman involved was left alone and I think with child and there was some kind of war going on? Or a riot? I know it's not much to go on but I was on meds at the time and I have lost a lot of the detail out of my head, I read it as a teen so not entirely sure if it was adult or teen fiction but seemed to be adult from what I recall. Please help if you can! Thank you!

Jk0508 | 13 comments I read a book last year called,"The Lives of Rachel", by Joel Gross. It follows a Jewish family through five stories of Women named Rachel. I think in one story the family are gold smiths or gem cutters in ancient Egypt. There is also an earlier book by the same author called "The Books of Rachel", published in 1979 according to Amazon.but I think a story in the Lives books sounds very similar. There is a huge diamond which gets passed to each Rachel to connect the story. Hope you find the one you are looking for.

Michele | 279 comments There's a list here of Egyptian books, maybe you'll recognize it. Pauline Gedge seems to have written quite a few.

Laina (lshockley) | 196 comments It's a long shot, but thought I'd suggest it:

Naguib Mahfouz: Three Novels of Ancient Egypt

Jordan | 14 comments Lily of the Nile? It's an adult novel with a girl on the front and there are lilies. I don't know the author but it should be easy to find. It's a book about an inch thick.
