The theme for this Evening of Words was Shakespeare which included adaptions and inspired works.
I chose to read an excerpt from this novel as it is based on Romeo and Juliet. It is an intriguing idea - turning the classic tragedy into a romance with the undead. The language and character's are modern and paced well, I really enjoy the descriptions. I also always love a book from the guys perspective, especially a romance!
I read the part where R is taking Julie around the airport looking for food for her and they start to really talk and she recognizes he is not just another walking dead man. His thoughts on her are really interesting compared to his inability to really communicate.
I love adaptations and so this weird and wonderful take on a classic really works for me!
