I believe this book was published in the 1980s -- very funny, irreverent novel about girl friends attending parochial school and coming of age in the 1960s. There was also a sequel that followed, with the same protagonists. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions about what the title was? (The author's first name may (or may not) have been Carly.) Thanks!

Sounds like the movie The Trouble with Angels, which was based on a book. According to the internet, that was Life with Mother Superior by Jane Trahey. I think there may have been one of those screenplay novelizations though.
