Chapter 1 (view spoiler)[ I'm very confused at the moment but also very interested in the story. I can't imagine forgetting my whole life and all my memories. I can't imagine not even knowing myself. I don't get what happened with the first forgetting. So her original dad is not her dad anymore because he cut of her book and her new book is now another person's daughter and her original dad is living a new life with a new family. For her dad to have done all that, wouldn't he have had to rewrite the mom's book and their kid's books as well? I (hide spoiler)]

hello guy, sorry to be late I started it on the 10th but then the story was too confusing for me to get into at first..

I finished chapter 3 (view spoiler)[info dumps are making these chapters so hard to go through.. it seems like the author is trying to explain so many things at once.. I still don't understand how books for kids are done? I don't even understand what's on the other side of the wall?

The world isn't that original, but the author gave it her own twist. Together with the descriptions, Canaan comes alive in front of my eyes. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[So far, I love the Forgetting. Although I thought it would be a fantasy book, it also had sciencefiction elements. That was a pleasant surprise. I still think Nadia is a wonderful character. And her relationship with Gray is so sweet. He understands her. So it the revelations at p. 230 broke my heart. Nadia's trust is broken, again. And the Gray ends his story with: he, btw, I think I love you. Jerk. (hide spoiler)]

I liked The Forgetting a lot more than I expected. It's actually pretty high on my 2017 favorites list. (view spoiler)[In the end all questions I had were answered and the ending itself was satisfying. The last 100 pages were full of plot twists and unexpected revelations. I loved that. And Nadia and Gray got their happily ever after. Actually, most characters did. Even Jonathan of the Council and Liliya. (hide spoiler)]

Okay, so fell into this book like water. Seriously, the opener with the letter about waking up after forgetting was AMAZING. (view spoiler)[ I think it was the dye on the kids' faces that got to me. What an amazing premise. I've only read the first couple chapters but it's a little harder after the opening. I still really like the idea but I can't quite fathom why Lilia is so horrible, nor do I buy for one second that Gray and Lily are a thing when he's clearly jonesing after Nadia. I do really like the subpremise that she alone can't forget anything. Just... wow -- I'm so happy to finally be reading this book. (hide spoiler)]

I get why, since she's the only one (that we know of) who doesn't forget. But it's a bit much for me. And she jumps to conclusions kind of. I don't know if that makes sense. I keep thinking I'm further along. I also keep thinking, I don't know how I feel about this book, but when I'm reading it, it's still engrossing so I must be enjoying it. (view spoiler)[ I like Gray too... almost too much. Why does he have such a bad reputation as a rake if he's secretly such a perfect catch and so madly in love with Nadia? Still like them; I think he's kind of adorable. Liliya though... seriously? Why is she such a witch? And sleeping with the old nasty cruel control freak? No brain. I adore Genivee though; she's so cute... but I thought it was a little jarring when she suddenly turned into this mature wise little mom to tell Nadia off about never having any fun.

Ansar realizing what he's done? I hope so... I can't figure out how he could be such a great dad through Nadia's first book and then turn into such a horrible person and up and leave them all like that. Kind of hope he gets in crazy trouble for it.

And of course now that I know that, I am thinking of all the times I thought, I can't figure out why he's so interested in HER when he liked 10928374108 other girls and could have any of them he wanted. What to say. All the feels. Gosh, I loved this book. It would seriously be a five star rating if the early parts had not been so "Not sure about this." Everything, just... (view spoiler)[ Loved... so many twists I wanted but wasn't expecting. Liliya turned around, YAY. Gray gets his memory back... oh that whole thing broke my heart and put it back together. Janis needed to die, which always bothers me when I hear myself saying it because it's so cold, but... she really did need to. Even Jonathan was redeemable. LOVED that we got an answer for Nadia's dad being a horrific person, or seeming to; that made me so happy. Loved the whole line with Rose, brave soul, who just went right back to being a doctor because they needed her. It will be interesting to see what happened to Earth since I have to assume that will come up in the sequel. And the SHIP, they found the ship!! I can't wait to hop into the sequellll!
