Cluedo

Inspired by the Cozy Mysteries challenge:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

One of the most famous detective board games is Cluedo made by Parker Brothers. This challenge will be based around the characters, weapons and rooms from the original game as well as the game itself.

In 1944, Anthony E. Pratt, an English musician, applied for a patent of his invention of a murder/mystery-themed game, originally named "Murder!" The game was originally invented as a new game to play in bomb shelters. Shortly thereafter, Pratt and his wife, Elva Pratt (1913-1990), who had helped in designing the game, presented it to Waddingtons' executive, Norman Watson, who immediately purchased it and provided its trademark name of "Cluedo" (a play on "clue" and "Ludo"; ludo is Latin for I play). Though the patent was granted in 1947, due to post-war shortages, the game was not officially launched until 1949, when the game was simultaneously licensed to Parker Brothers in the United States for publication, where it was renamed "Clue" along with other minor changes. (Wikipedia)

1. Read a book that is a murder mystery.
2. Read a book that was published/is set in the 1940s.
3. Read a book in which the characters play a board game.

Then:

Clue Characters:
Read a book where someone on the cover is wearing the same color clothes as the clue character. (ie a red dress, a green suit, etc. Outfit on cover does not have to be specifically a dress or suit, as long as the person on the cover is predominantly dressed in the color.) Read one book for each person.

4. Miss Scarlet (a red piece)
5. Colonel Mustard (a yellow piece)
6. Mrs. White (a white piece)
7. Mr. Green (a green piece)
8. Mrs. Peacock (a blue piece)
9. Professor Plum (a purple piece)

Weapons:
Read a book where the following weapons is either pictured on the cover, specifically named in the title, or has some significant role in the book. Read one book for each weapon.

10. Dagger/Knife
11. Candlestick
12. Revolver (any gun)
13. Rope
14. Lead Pipe (any kind of piping)
15. Wrench/Spanner

Rooms:
Read a book with the following rooms pictured on the cover, specifically named in the title, or featured predominantly in the plot. The room doesn't have to be the main place the story takes place but if the characters just walk through the room once it isn't enough to count. If an entire scene takes place in the room, then it's enough to qualify.

16. Kitchen
17. Ballroom
18. Conservatory
19. Dining Room
20. Billiard Room
21. Library
22. Study
23. Hall
24. Lounge
25. Cellar/Stairs (where the envelope with the solution was kept)

The last items you read and check off in Characters, Weapons and Rooms will be the solution to your game!

All books must be at least 150 pages long. No graphic novels.
A book can only count for one task, so you must read 25 books in total.
This challenge runs from 1 November 2016 to 31 October 2017.
