I'm only partway through chapter 7 but Charles is making me increasingly nervous. I don't like how he controls Constance and treats Uncle Julian and Merricat. If he were a caring family member come to help Constance he wouldn't deserve to be treated this way by Julian and Merricat, but he seems to be only interested in money. I'm worried he's going to do something to the cat.

On the flip side, I really like all the witchy things that Merricat does.

Charles was a horrible character. I found myself wondering if he is even really related to them or just someone trying to take advantage and get all of their money. I hate how he hints around Merricat and Uncle Julian being sent away.

I also very much love all the witchy Merricat things.
