The Shining - Part 1: Prefatory Matters (Ch. 1-7)

Starting chapter 7 right now and so far I've really enjoyed to the book. It's a little bit too slow paced for my taste. We are 7 chapters in and basically nothing has happened!!!
The back story is interesting and I adored chapter 6 which was basically about Wendy's thoughts and her view on what had happened in her life and in her marriage with Jack.

I have never seen the movie, only the first scene and a view bits in the middle, but I'm really curious to see what's going to happen.

I agree. For me, the book doesn't really get going until the end of part 1. And even then there are some bits in the middle that were a bit drawn out. Hopefully it will pick up for you!

I've just finished Part 1 and found it a bit slow as well, but the chapters from Danny's point of view about Tony left me feeling a little unsettled! Amazingly I've never been spoiled for the Shining (book or movie) so it's great to go in knowing nothing.
