Hooktheory LLC (hooktheory) | 1 comments Hi. First of all, I'll apologize in advance for being a complete Goodreads newbie and for probably not doing things correctly.

I own a company, Hooktheory LLC. Hooktheory creates interactive digital books that teach songwriting concepts and music theory concepts in a simple, practical way.

In 2014 Hookthoery LLC published its first book, co-written by the three founders (Chris Anderson - me, Ryan Miyakawa, and David Carlton).

I created a goodreads account for the company (username hooktheory) and added a book page for our first book "Hooktheory I". https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2.... This is where we feed everyone to review our book and we love how things are going.

On Oct 11, 2016, we are releasing the sequel "Hooktheory II". I logged in as hooktheory and created a placeholder goodreads book page for "Hooktheory II" a month or two ago (I needed a placeholder because I need to put the link in an iOS / Android app to review the book). Now I need to edit the description, the cover, and some other stuff. How can I do that? Also, if possible, I'd like to somehow make it obvious that the books are part of a series, and should be connected together.

Also, during my investigation today, I realized that the author "Chris Anderson" (me) of Hooktheory I links to the Chris Anderson formerly of Wired Magazine. I'm not that Chris Anderson.

So I need to be able to edit Hooktheory I and Hooktheory II book pages and also we need to figure out the author situation. Do you recommend having each of us as individuals/authors (Ryan, Dave, Chris) create Goodreads accounts and then we can link the authors of Hooktheory I to those goodreads author pages or do you think we should change the author to "Hooktheory LLC" and link it to the "hookthoery" goodreads account that I've been using?

Sorry that I botched this. Honestly, it is kind of not intuitive. I would think there is a way to link accounts as owners of books. I view the goodreads book page as a marketing page for my product and I want to have control over it and be able to update it.

The profile for Hooktheory is a GR user profile. Users can add books, not edit or add info to existing books.
You can provide the details here in the Librarians Group, and a librarian can add the details to the book.

The series feature on Goodreads is mostly intended for fiction, although series for non-fiction are sometimes also created.

I don't know if these would be considered a series. You can post a new question in the series folder whether this is a valid series and if it can be created.

Also, during my investigation today, I realized that the author "Chris Anderson" (me) of Hooktheory I links to the Chris Anderson formerly of Wired Magazine. I'm not that Chris Anderson.
I moved the book to a new Chris Anderson profile: https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

GR authors can add details to their own books, but when the GR author is not in the primary author position, this might not even work (only for the primary author).
When the real authors are known (and they are on the cover), the real names have to be used, not the name of the publisher, editor or something similar. So using Hooktheory as author profile is not an option.
Librarians don't know what exactly a GR author can and can't do. Please ask GR Support if you want to know more about it: Goodreads Support

For more info about whether to claim the author profile(s), you might find info in the Author Feedback Group: https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/... as that is not a librarian issue.
