Tara Woods Turner | 2063 comments Okay. I've decided to stop procrastinating and work on an author website/blog. To be honest, it's more a lack of tech know-how than actual laziness but whatever, don't give me an excuse or I'll be tempted to take it. Anyhoo I'd asked other gr authors about site building/hosting suggestions and I was flooded with great ideas and leads. Crap! Why had it never occurred to me before to let my amazing fellow writers in on my bitter struggles lol. That's one of the greatest things about GR right? Right - sooo...I think an accountability partner might be in order.
Someone who has the same goal but is roughly in the same boat, motivation wise. We can share advice and info, give one another feedback, commit to agreed upon increments of progress, establish quantifiable metrics, keep one another accountable and encouraged. At least two emails a day are expected with a good deal more once we're really progressing with our goals. I'd love to find one or two such goal specific partners in crime out there. Any takers?

Graeme Rodaughan Hi Tara, I'm looking to establish my own author website within the next six months to align with my second book.

At this point in time, I have very little established apart from my basic plan, which is as follows.

1. Keep the scope simple, just a website to do the following things.

1.a. Create a web presence.
1.b. Adverstise my books with nice large visuals.
1.c. Provide pass through links to Amazon, Smashwords, etc that will provide all the sales and distribution machinery. I do not want to be involved in actually selling and distributing books beyond GR give aways.
1.d. By not selling and handling credit card transactions, I can reduce the security overheads of the site.
1.e. Be my primary blog, with blog feeds off to Goodreads, Amazon, and Facebook

2. Connect to readers via an email list/newsletter.

3. Provide "FREE" stuff for download, like backstory short stories and humorous pieces.

4. Be as cheap/simple as possible to run and maintain.

If my timeline matches yours - happy to participate.
