Aaaahhhh!! What do we think of the Darkling's epic return?

"I want to thank you," The Darkling said.

Now, that I hadn't expected. "Thanks me?"

"For the gift you gave me."

What about the nichevo'ya? Thoughts? Theories?

Carina Olsen (carinabooks) | 672 comments Ack. How I hate the nichevo'ya. They are so creepy! (And I very much dislike the Darkling for using them. It is not nice at all. Grrr.) But ohh. I LOVE reading about the nichevo'ya :D So creepy. And I love creepy, lol. My favorite part of the beginning of Siege and Storm is the Mal scenes, though. <3 Sigh.

Samina The Story Devourer | 3 comments Nichevo'ya was something that pushes the Darkling towards non redemption. I really believed at the end of Shadow and Bone that he could be saved but when the nichevo'ya appear it makes me think that he gone down the road of no return. :(

"Thanks me?" Er. .. . typo! Shouldn't it be "Thank me?"? I am trying to refrain from saying the nichevo'ya are cool. I don't like them though. Not really. My brain is confusing sometimes.

Ohh, I very much agree with this. I think it is too late for the Darkling. After what he did to G. And to B. For me, things like that cannot be forgiven or "redeemed" :)

Marinaserina | 55 comments I also feel like the Darkling can't be redeemed (no matter how badly I want that to happen). Unfortunately, the Darkling is just too driven and determined in his goals to give up and even if he did he can't make up for all the lives he took :( is it bad that I still like him?

I'm glad you agree about that, hih. But no. I don't think it is bad that you still like him :) But it makes me very happy that you like him, but still think that he can't make up for the bad things he did. <3 Because that is the way I feel. Hih :)

Samina The Story Devourer | 3 comments Yes, he is beyond redemption, and that is what makes him all the more irresistible. He has a certain presence about him and when he appears he takes up all my attention. It's as if everything else pales around him.
He is like dark temptation to me.

I feel that his ending will be bad in Ruin and Rising, and that my friends, will make me cry to read the end of such a multi-dimentional character.

Yes, this. The Darkling is the heart of the story. A dark heart.

A dark, mysterious, sexy, seductive, handsome, powerful heart :)

How about intelligent, ruthless, and lonely as well.

I totally agree. The Darkling is so full of surprises which is why he's such a good character in the series. I have a love/hate relationship with him as the Darkling makes a good bad villain. But sometimes I feel that he has a sort of 'soft spot' somewhere, like in scenes with Alina he shows some sympathy. Or am I imagining it?

Meida Morgenstern Lantsova | 221 comments such a full-of-surprises-irresistible-vicious man he has become. And don't worry Team Darkling, we are not the only one who are weird enough for rooting a man like him. Alina is too!
