I really didn't have a problem with this happening to her again. She wasn't expecting anyone to hunt her down while she was jogging. I can't remember if she had her phone on her while she was jogging, or if she left it at Lucy's house. If she left it at home, she should stop doing that.
I didn't think there was anything that she could have foreseen other than the rock being thrown in her car. Maybe it wasn't a good idea to be out running in an area so isolated.
My issue is with the author always putting Maggie in these perilous positions. This is at least her fifth brush with death.

I don't like any genre of book series that constantly plunges the female lead into peril every doggone time out. I didn't see the sheriff being such a villain, even though I thought he was incompetent and reliant on the rich to keep getting elected. The odds of the bad guys being old buddies didn't ring true for me, either, in this one.
