I am reading Legend, by Marie Lu. I think the main character is Day. He is the most wanted criminal in the Republic and now he is a prisoner of the Republic soldiers. Day is now waiting for his execution day. This takes place in a futuristic image of the U.S. The republic is located near Los Angeles while the other half of the country is known as the patriots. The conflict is between the main character and the Republic. Day is wanted for all of his crimes and is found due to unfortunate consequences. I like the pace of this book. It never gets boring but it doesn't move too fast. I think it makes the story move the reader to keep reading but we get a full understand on the meaning of the story.
The Elite-Kiera CassThe main character, America Singer, became part of the selection to possibly marry the prince if she was chosen. She ends up falling in love with him but has some secrets that she can't tell. The book takes place in a fictional place called I Illéa. She lives in the palace with the 6 other girls in the selection. America is conflicted because she feel in love with a man before she left for the selection and now he is a guard at the palace. She was still in love with him when he got there but now she realizes her true feelings for the prince but the guard is still trying to win her back. I really like the conflict in this book and how the story is told. It is very intriguing and always want to know what is happening.
I am reading the book "The Giver" by Lois Lowry. The main character in this book is named Jonas and he is experiencing things in life as the days go by. In the book it takes place in a society that has many rules and ways to follow. Things you should and shouldn't do. The conflict Jonas has is responding to his bodies/mind feelings and needs. For example reacting to certain situations. I like how there is different situations Jonas faces such as talking or how he interprets the world.
I'm reading Emerald Green by Kerstin Gier. Gwen is a sixteen year old girl who has discovered that she can travel in time. This story takes place in London but in different times throughout history. Gwen is trying to figure out what the secret time travel society is trying to hide from her. They know more about her then she knows about herself and Gwen is tired of secrets. I like the book so far because it's all about trust and family. It has many twists and always keeps you guessing
Rumble fish S.E HintonHe's though wild and crazy. He's also smart and brave. A rough violent neighborhood. Everyone is in a gang and there's a lot of fights. I think there go a get into a fight and someone gonna die. I think this because this book reminds me of the outsiders and I think there similar. I like this book because it has a lot of action. There's always action there's always stuff happening so it's entertaining.
Found By Margaret Peterson HaddixJonah is a very nice person and cares about his friends.
The story takes place in a small town in Ohio. Most of the story takes place in Chips basement where they share all the evidence and info that they found. The central conflict is that Jonah and Chip are both adopted and came from the past so they are trying to investigate where they came from. What I like about the book so far is that it is filled with a lot of investigation and it is action packed.
The book I'm reading is Life In The Fat Lane by Cherie Bennett. The main character Lara, was a skinny pageant winner who was popular. She was very fake because she acted like she liked everyone. The story takes place in the 90's. The central conflict is that Lara was 113 lbs now, she is 218 lbs. she has an eating disorder that makes her gain weight. Now everyone at her school hates her because she got fat. I like that this book doesn't have a filter and how people are so mean and swear in this book
I am reading American Gods by Neal Gaiman. I read his book, The Ocean at the End of the Lane and I liked his style--a little bit of mystery mixed with fantasy. The author says in the introduction, "I wanted to write a book that was big, and odd, and meandering," which does a good job of describing the style of this book. He also defines a novel as "a long piece of prose with something wrong with it," which I kind of loved. The main character, Shadow, is released from prison and is looking forward to reuniting with his fiance (who was responsible for his being in prison in the first place), but on the day of his release he is called into the warden's office and told that she died in a car accident. Soon after his release, he runs into a man who calls himself Wednesday, and then the weird stuff starts, which is part of the conflict. He begins running into Gods living on earth, but they show up randomly and hint at some end-of-the-world event that Shadow apparently has some connection to. Even his dead wife comes back to visit. In this scene, his dead wife has just rescued him from a situation, and he has been told to head south. He runs into an enormous raven who is feeding on a dead fawn and who also starts talking to him. "He paused. Regrouped. He was cold, standing in a wood, talking to a big black bird who was currently brunching on Bambi." I thought this was a funny line, and kind of what I would think if I was in this situation, like, what the heck is going on here?? I would probably talk to myself and make sarcastic comments. The writer's use of very short and one-word sentences add to the impact.
A little bit later Shadow tells the bird, "Say 'Nevermore.'" The raven responds, "F*** you." This made me laugh out loud. I enjoyed the Edgar Allen Poe reference and the unexpected response. The book is filled with literary and mythological allusions, which are woven into the story line. It reminds me a little bit of Percy Jackson for adults.
I am reading Glory O'Brien's History of The Future by A.S. King this book is a fiction book because the main character Glory starts to see the history and the future when she looks at people. In my book there was one interesting passage when they drink a mummified bat which is what gave Glory and her friend Ellie the power to see what people's past and who and where they came from and into their future and generations past it. I can not really tell what they conflict is yet because it takes a while for the book to really dive into the climax. What I like about the book so far is that it is a good book for teenagers and I think that they. Would enjoy it the most. I also think that it is interesting that they get powers in such a weird way.
. Mr. Mercedes by: Stephen King
The main character in this book is a retired police detective named Hodges and a killer known as the "Mercedes Killer". Hodges is haunted by the fact that his biggest case on the "Mercedes Killer" was left unsolved, and the killer is obviously insane because he killed 8 people. This book takes place in an unnamed city. The central conflict in the book is man vs man, and man vs self, because so far while Hodges and the killer are plotting against each other and the clock they are also fighting there inner demons. I so far really like the building suspense in the book so far.
The Way We Fall by Megan CreweThe main character is a 16 year old girl named Kaelyn. She lost her best friend when he moved to New York with his family. The setting of this book is a small island community. The book doesn't really give any specifics about the island it just says its small with a small population. The central conflict of the book is that a virus is sweeping up the whole island. Kaelyns dad is a doctor so he gives his family information about what is going on. So far I think the book is pretty good so far the only thing I don't like is how the main character is sort of talking to her best friend through this "journal" she is writing but I like the way she dates it.
Book Name: Whisper To MeAuthor: Nick lake
The main character's name in this story is Cassie. She goes to high school and lives with her dad in Oakwood, New Jersey, Cassie is kind of an outcast when it comes to school but she likes to draw and leave her house to explore new places and draw. The setting of the story is a boardwalk/amusement park with the beach and lots of stores. This story is about Cassie emailing someone that she met during the summer and she's emailing him to say sorry because she broke his heart so basically what I like about this story is that she explaining what happened before she met him and I like it because It makes me want to know more about what happened between him and her
The City of Bones the Mortal Instrument by Cassandra Clare. There are 2 main characters which are Clary and Jace. Clary is like any other girl she likes to have fun especially with her best friend Simon. Jace on the other hand is a shadow hunter he kills demon and sends them back to their dimension. The setting is between Clary's mundane world and Jace's where there are demons, angels, witches, warlocks and fairies. The central conflict is Clary's mother is missing and a demons attacks Clary in her house. Clary is not all mundane(human) and she is set to find her mother and discover who she really is and the story of her family. I like the action in this book.
The book I am currently reading is called "The Iron King" by Julie Kagawa. The main character in the story is Meghan Chase. She is sixteen years old. Meghan is not the popular girl in high school. She lives out on a pig farm with her mom, stepdad, and half brother. She is poor. The setting starts in Meghan's house and her high school, but as the story continues it will take place in another world called Nevernever. Nevernever is not a happy place. It is a "eerie world" according to Meghan. The central conflicts is a long story. Meghan has a best friends named Robbie who apparently is who she thought he was. His name Robin Goodfellow and he is a faery. He is from a story called "A Midsummer Nights Dreams" which is not a story. Meghan's comes home after school to find her mom Laying on the floor. She goes to the hospital while Meghan watched her little brother Ethan. Ethan bit Meghan but, it's not him. A changeling is a faery from Nevernever that attaches it's self to a human and puts the human life to Nevernever. Now Puck (Robbie) and Meghan have to go find Ethan's soul. I enjoy this book a lot so far.
In the book FREAKONOMICS by Steven D and Stephen it talks about incentives, how people get what they need. One example would be when he compares the Ku Klux Klan to real-estate agentsHe talked about how both of then took something away from you. I find this book appealing to me because the book finds things that I wound' t find to be interesting. -Sergio
"The season of you & me" by: Robin Constantine. There are two main characters in this story Cassidy and Bryan. Cassidy is a shy, funny, nice, and kind. Bryan is in a wheel chair but sweet. The setting of the story is they are both in Crest Haven on the jersey shore. Cassidy is going through a breakup with her old boyfriend but finds Bryan when she moves to her dads for the summer. Bryan is in a wheel chair after an accident and is having troubles adapting to the new life. The book so far is great and I can't wait to what more is to come.
Michael NicioliAristotle and Dante
The conflict so far is aristotle vs. his dark thoughts. He seems like he is unsure about himself and his "Dark thoughts". I am sure there will be a very interesting conflict and because of that I think this book is going to be really interesting.
My bloody life by Reymundo Sanchez My character is really smart, athletic, and very independent. He loves playing baseball and going to school. When he doesn't go he's devasted. The setting is a neighborhood that is very dangerous and full of bad influence. It's pretty much gang infested.
The central conflict would be that his parents neglect Him and abuse him. Anything he does gets him in trouble but his sisters don't get touched at all.
So far I love the book it's very fast paced and makes you keep reading. For me it's not boring at all.
Christine is still at her dads house, counting down the days till she goes home. The book is starting to drag
