Ty Carlisle No, I don't think it is, after all the author is a scientist himself and makes fun of himself more than anyone else in the book. If anything he is just telling the cold, hard truth about what we all already know, that if you spend your life in academia using big words and mostly only talking to other scientists, you forget how to communicate with an average joe on the street. This isn't a critique of the scientists themselves, but moreover a guidebook for how to communicate more effectively no matter who you are. Because in a way we all get bogged down in our own communication black holes, in a way we all need to stop being "such a scientist".

Mike No, and I would say it's quite the opposite. It is a wake up call to try to help scientists communicate better with the real world, not hurt or attack scientists. I would like to know who wrote this question. Someone who didn't read the book?
