Carly | 2 comments I remember reading a book a few years ago, shortly after reading Peter Clines' The Fold, and now I can't remember the author or title to save my life. It was a male protagonist who worked as a temp or as a clerk at a job he didn't like, found a super cheap apartment within a strange building. Terrible things start happening to the residents as he makes friends with different people, including a female character who is a coder/ hacker type - the new lightbulb turns on in s different color and suddenly he can see writing in blood on the wall of his apartment. The temperature gets really cold in one or two rooms. Somehow the group of tenants figure out the house is a portal to another dimension and some doomsday group is trying to activate the portal. The succeed and suddenly there is a vacuum that sucks one of the tenants through the door that leads to nowhere. When they finally end up in the other dimension, the house comes with them. They are on a sandy planet and they figure out there are massive evil winged creatures who have mind control and telepathy and control these smaller creatures that chase after the humans. It's super creepy, but I loved it, and now I can't remember it.
