Fall Fear Challenge 2016!
So I'm in. I think I put about 7 books on shelf. Two are ordered, some are library, and some are on Kindle. See how I do. Every year I read either Shelley's Frankenstein or Stoke'rs Dracula. This year I'll read a different Bram Stoker, Jewel of Seven Stars.
Here's to new traditions for the Spooky Season!

I'm having trouble to. I set up a shelf and put seven books on it. But on the Group Home page, I keep getting an error about shelf not being created. Well, whether the shelf tracks or not, I'm going to start reading!
Thanks for setting this up.

Aww, I always miss you and the HA gang :D you guys are irreplaceable.. and get me reading more. I was just going through my Kindle looking if I have any appropriate books for this challenge so I can start today.

It wouldn't let me add my shelf either until I added it exactly as goodreads had it listed - you know how goodreads likes to swap the spaces for dashes and change the capital letters to lower case in your shelf names.

I played with it a few times, renaming the shelf, and now the shelf is finally up and matches the challenge.
Now to start reading...
I've added the grand total of 3! Woo hoo! I'm planning on reading quite thick books so I doubt I'll get through many at all. But, quality over quantity and all that!

Doesn't matter how many! As long as you're enjoying the books and having fun, it's all good. :)

"Ewwwwwww!!!! Scary cover LOL"
Lol, yeah the cover was pretty good! The story was OK, it was about a Balinese demon queen. It was cool to read about that, but definitely a book for "young" adults lol.
For some reason, even though I created the shelf through the challenge, it isn't updating things I add to it. It says I haven't read any, but I've added 2 to the shelf.

I don't think it adds them until after you've marked them as "read"... Have you finished them yet?

I have my challenge as 10 books. Can you change it if you read more or will it just add that you went over your goal if you keep adding to your shelf ? I hope that made sense! :-/

Update: You need to set the date finished.
Wahoo! I had read 4 of my 10 books already. Will it show if you go over like it does on your main goodreads reading challenge ?

Not sure on your question but I think so.

"Almost" positive it does, just like for the other challenges. :)

For this contest, the more, the merrier!!! :)

I just completed my 1st book for this challenge, a collection of short creepy stories that was perfect for the first weekend of my favorite month. I found myself creeping back to bed to read a few pages and it made me want to read more short stories.

Hmm, I'm still having some trouble with this. I've created my shelf and everything shows up on the challenge page just fine, but I've just completed my first book and it's still showing my progress at 0%. I've added my 3 books to my custom shelf, I've marked my first as "read", and entered the start date and the completion date just like it says, but I'm still showing up at 0%... does anyone have a solution? Thanks!
Hmmm I have the bookshelf, saved book to shelf, when I finished the book, I rate it and or review it clicked finished. Set dates. Click save it adds to shelf. Maybe refresh the page?
Mine did that until I set the date finished. But you said you already did that. The first time I accidentally changed the date added instead of finished, because they're right next to each other. I'll see if I can find the FAQ I used.
Update: The only things I could find were making sure the date is inside the challenge time, and that if you're updating from the mobile site, it has to be through Currently reading. So if you were doing it through mobile, try again from the regular site.
Thanks for helping out, Mixofsunandcloud! That's the only thing I can think of as well. Make sure that the book's date started AND finished are both within the guidelines of the challenge and, of course, make sure the books are on the proper shelf.

Thank you Mixofsunandcloud, Charlene, and V! I appreciate all the help and tips! I played around with it a bit and discovered that I had accidentally created two shelves with the exact same name and had set my three books to the shelf that was not linked to the challenge. Everything is good now :)

AWESOME! :)
Char wrote: "Sweet! Good luck to both of you!I challenged myself to 5 and I've read 4 so far."
Same with me, so I upped my challenge to 7, we'll see if I can make it.
I've finished two so far, but I'm reading more than one at a time. It shouldn't be too hard to make it.
Changed my goal to 10. 6 read so far
The Willows
Something Wicked This Way Comes
The Halloween Tree
The Mist
Disappearance at Devil's Rock
The Exorcist
Currently reading Usher's Passing and loving it
Two down one to go! I just finished The Library at Mount Char and I absolutely loved it. I've never had so much fun reading a book.
Chris wrote: "Two down one to go! I just finished The Library at Mount Char and I absolutely loved it. I've never had so much fun reading a book."I'll have to move that up on my "to read" list.

Wasn't that an amazing book? I bought the ebook but I also want a hard copy, such a keeper.

I needed a smaller, lighter book to read/carry around so I started reading The House Next Door for the challenge. O.M.G. i love it so much. It's getting really dark and there's so much tension already.
I'm getting a bit bored in Halloween Man. I think it's going to pick up soon, though. From what I've seen in reviews, the flashbacks are important, even if they tend to drag.

It's the only book that author ever wrote in this genre.

LOVED that one so much--and unexpectedly, since I hadn't heard of the author before that!

Yes! I had no idea what to expect when I picked it up and I couldn't put it down. It's definitely on my top ten list. Amazing book. I bought a hard copy and I'm glad I did because if I had bought the ebook I would go out and buy it again haha
I just read my 5th book. :) According to the challenge, I am right on track. Will hopefully knock out a couple of books over the weekend.
