Do you think Yaoi has no plot?
With Yaoi, some books are all about the sex. However, there are quite a few with decent plot and story arcs that evolve over several volumes.
The Finder series has a few decent plot developments which push and pull the characters' relationship in several different directions. And their experiences do change that.
Takaba's character experiences a lot of growth in how he feels about Asami and how he relates to him. This can be difficult to maintain over a long series and only a few titles are able to do that.
