I know I wrote down the title of this book ages ago, and now I can't find it! Don't you hate when that happens?

Anyhoo, I'm really hoping someone will be able to identify this. There's a British actor (now deceased) who wrote a book about growing up with his lesbian mom and her partner, who I think he called his "aunt" in the 1930s or 1940s. Maybe 1950s, but I don't think it was that recent. The mom was femme and her partner was butch. I remember she wore suits and possibly smoked cigars.

The actor was definitely British, maybe he was famous on British television? I dunno since I'm not too familiar with British actors. He wasn't someone super famous in the USA, but he was well known in England. His first name might have been Patrick. I'm pretty sure he's deceased now.

Serendi Patrick MacNee was Steed on The Avengers opposite Diana Rigg (and others before and after, but in the US we mostly saw the Diana Rigg episodes). Didn't know he wrote a book, but that's definitely his background.

Rainbowheart | 28650 comments Awesome! Blind in One Ear is the right book. I just read some of the reviews, and he called her "Uncle Evelyn," not aunt! Thanks mucho for your help.

Railyn (funky-rat) | 243 comments Before my time too, but I watched it in re-runs and I loved it. Linda Thorson was after Diana Rigg, but those are the only 2 I remember. I'll have to check that book out.
