For this prompt, I read King's Cage by Victoria Aveyard.

I get reeeeally frustrated with the Red Queen series from Victoria Aveyard, It's gripping in the way that a lot of YA fantasy series can be, this is the third one I've read and I've not been able to put them down.

Enter the frustration - the writing is SO AVERAGE! The books are far too long, they need some serious editing, the main character has become spectacularly irritating...and yet I can't put them down and I have to know what happens. Bleh. I was also annoyed because I'd made the (admittedly unfounded) assumption that it was a trilogy, so this would be the last book. It wasn't. Nothing was resolved. ARGH.

Anyway, that's my rant about this series! Do you ever have books/series like that where you like/love it against your better judgement?
