Martha (marthais) No examples here as it depends what you've read before!

Discussion prompts
- What did you/will you read for this task? What did you think of it?
- What was the original book? How did it fit into the story?
- If a book is mentioned in a story, does it make you want to read it as well, or do you not really notice?

Martha (marthais) For this prompt, I read The Tales of Beedle the Bard, which was previously mentioned in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The tales are an integral part of HP7 as the final tale (of the three brothers) helps the trio defeat Voldemort.

I really enjoyed it - a bitesize addition to the core HP universe (of which I am a big fan) full of new little details. I really like that Rowling has committed to building this whole universe rather than just a series that ends with the last book. Tales of Beedle the Bard reads like a traditional book of fairytales, which is readable in itself, but it's also annotated by Albus Dumbledore, giving it a lovely extra layer. Loved it!

Yes, often if a book is mentioned in another book it makes me want to read it, it's basically a recommendation!
