Awww Sri! Thanks. But it hasn't really worked *sigh*
I'm going read it nevertheless. I am a sucker for emotional books.
@Manu - read his books.. you wanted to mix something small na.. read these instead of YA-PNF :P.. you will like it :)
Srividya wrote: "@Sumit - I have to agree with you where JG is concerned.. he does talk about relationships and is extremely poignant. GGK - Intense
JG - Poignant
Also, I've found that one tends to find things one is tuned to look for, when pursuing any hobby. For example, I like landscapes and open fields and flowery meadows when I take photographs. A friend of mine likes to capture macros and extreme close-ups of flowers and insects on them.
Mind you, both of these things exist in the same meadow. However, one's perspective leads oneself to see the same creation differently. :)
@Arshi - It's still a fantastic book.
@Ishi - no further questions. But in case there's anything that any one of us can do, please let us know.

*high-fives Arshi and tells her that he loves books that are emotional roller coasters too*
Sumit wrote: "booklover wrote: "Srividya wrote: "booklover wrote: "@Ishi: I was reading the synopsis of Looking for Alaska before reading Sumit's review and I stumbled upon a major spoiler.;_; I HATE SPOILERS!!!..."*tells both that I'm the same* :3
Agreed Sumit.. you tend to find things that you are seeking or tuned to look for.. Also you relate better to those aspects, often in exclusion to others, which often leads to certain biased views, am talking more with regard to my own self than in general here :)

Hi Ishi :)*wonders where Ini disappeared after asking me for W&P update* *hopes that she hasn't jumped off the 10th floor after hearing my proposed rate of reading, which is quite miserable, I agree*

Lol!!!
Oh btw what we're reading in August, dear Mods? If something good gets selected I've to make space for it in my already busy schedule:P:P:PSo please.......
Manju, I doubt if one can compare Green and Kay - it would be highly unfair to both. I'm enjoying reading both, but I have to say that GGK doesn't 'stir up my emotions' like he does for you. :)Arshi, all of John Green I've read so far. Will try and send you some more recommendations. :)
@Manu - Not towards Green as such, although you might call me favouring his writing as being biased. What i meant was that if I read a book and find some element that attracts me or gives me what I want after reading it, I usually tend to like it. Others, especially more experienced critics, tend to be nit-picky about various issues but for me the emotional appeal of the book is the first aspect I seek. If I can connect emotionally, the rest, although important, is not that important. :) This attitude gets me into long drawn arguments usually with others who feel that every aspect should be perfect! I do agree but still believe that a book with every other thing perfect but with no emotional connect, is not one that I would like as opposed to a book which is emotionally appealing but has a few flaws :)
Point in question - Mistborn :P :P

A Song is my least favorite book of the four that I've read by him. :D
@Arshi.. also read Paper Towns - its hilarious at least in the beginning.. and am sure it will be a great bookAlso if you like emotional books or rather those that are poignant.. read Wonder, its FABULOUS!!!
Srividya wrote: "@Manu - Not towards Green as such, although you might call me favouring his writing as being biased. Was annoyed to find a spelling error in GGK's otherwise brilliant book. (Yes, I can be a grammar fanatic.)

We'll start nominating by the end of this week, and then have the poll beginning sometime mid-next week. Let's see what comes up. :)

Mistborn....not again & you too?? :P:P:P
@Sumit - I know you're a grammar fanatic.. One thing I wondered while reading Rushdie's Midnight's Children was how did you manage to like it, given that the book had all the grammatical and punctuation flaws as it did :P
Sumit wrote: Fair enough. I like emotional appeal, and also flawless language. Was annoyed to find a spelling error in GGK's otherwise brilliant book. (Yes, I can be a grammar fanatic.)."Blame the editor not Kay:P:P

@Ishi - ya its fun and am quite enjoying it :) Will know more when I finish but am sure I am going to like it.. at least a 4 star book, if not 5 - depends on how generous I am feeling while rating it :) :)@Manu - what I meant was that I liked Mistborn, despite its loopholes because I connected to it emotionally, just not to the lovers... can't help it :P :P
Srividya wrote: "@@Manu - what I meant was that I liked Mistborn, despite its loopholes because I connected to it emotionally, just not to the lovers... can't help it :P :P "Hahahaha.........:D:D:D
@sri i didn't jump off.. :P:P Network down at office so not able to check often..:-):-) And one page a day?!?! *wonders who decided the strict timeline of 2months for this book* :P:P:P
@Ini - am glad you didn't jump as I would have been sad living a life without you.. And am sure there are many like me...right?? :P :PAnd as for deadline.. what deadline, who was that person.. let me check - that's preposterous - we need at least three 5-year plans to complete it :P :P
Thanks for the recs Ishi, Sumit & Sri :)Have already read TFIOS. But added the rest to my TBR shelf :D

*is glad that I don't get into BR's of insanely long, no matter how great, books*
@Arshi and Sumit - have you guys read Flowers for Algernon.. If not you should read it, its a nice book. Just about 33% done and now waiting for my buddy to catch up before proceeding but I really liked the book, although the premise is a little impractical.. still its a nice poignant read.. :)
@sri am not sure about others:P:P:P and look into the mirror.. U ll find the strict person who enforced the deadline:P:P:P
Iniya wrote: "@sri am not sure about others:P:P:P and look into the mirror.. U ll find the strict person who enforced the deadline:P:P:P"Lolssss :D:D:D

@Manu - GGK and JG are completely different authors. I loved the intensity with which GGK writes in Lions and the poignancy with which JG wrote TFIOS.. They are different, completely different and considering their genres are also different, I can quite accept this.. Rest to follow after I finish both these books :P :P
Hi Ishi :)
