You are oddly cheery today, even more than usual :P:P
Ishita wrote: "Sri- okay, u're right. I'm Sorry.I'm good, u ?
And how's Srija ? :)"
Am good too.. Shrija's fine.. enjoying life as usual :P
Hows Lolita?? :P :P
@Srividya- noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo......................
Anoop wrote: "@Srividya- noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo......................"Awwwwww again :P :P :P
*someone does not get bugged easily right?* :P :P
Anoop- I will never understand that :PSri- it's absurdly slow *sighs*
I've been struck on it for 2 weeks now. Haven't been reading much, have my bhua and cousins staying over. But I'm oddly impressed with the writing. Very sophisticatedly erotic. Talented as Nabokov was !

Well Fong.. I have reason to be :P :P
@Srividya- Not bugged at all.. My eyes can handle it. Not my ears :P ney ney :P :P@Ishita- Lolita is a fantastic book :)
@Ishita - I remember reading it long back and I also found the writing good.. but a tad slow for my taste then... I never got around to reading it after I matured (so to speak :P) :) :)
@Ishita- you will understand it, eventually. One fine day you will have a revelation and you will truly understand what I meant :D :D :D
@Ini - you mean reading list?I have to finish David Copperfield and then will hopefully finish Under the Dome and some part of The Lions of Al Rassan by Monday :) :)
Srividya wrote: "@Ishita - I remember reading it long back and I also found the writing good.. but a tad slow for my taste then... I never got around to reading it after I matured (so to speak :P) :) :)"What is your preferred style/approach in a novel?
Anoop- yes it is but I find it a bit sickening too. I understand the girl's a nymphomaniac and the protagonist too but still.I wait for the revelation that u're speaking of :)
Sri- yes, it's indeed a slow book. I never get around more than 10-20 pages a day ! I'm finding it hard to understand at some places, though. But I absolutely love the style !
Ishita wrote: "Ipshi- yes, I set an alarm for it XD"I was the first to arrive on scene, what a timing! XD

Later I went on to fast paced fiction and really liked a story that moved reasonably fast with a good background description but not never ending prose.. which I find (guess still find) too tedious at times.
Today am okay with either style.. although I still find never ending prose a little too tedious for me.. :)

I think you will like The Quincunx written by Charles Palliser. Apparently, the book is written in Dickens style :) i have loved it thus far :)
Fong- yes :PIpshi- I was right behind ya but my net sucked -_-
Sri- yes. The proses seem to go on and on. That's why, I think, it's sucha slow book and I never read much at a time.
I haven't read a lot of dickens but I have some and he's good. I've read thodi si Christmas Carol And it was amazing. I'm gonna complete it this year. But I'm sort of (obsessed) with literature and everything so my favorites are Shakespeare and Voltaire. I enjoy the Bronte sisters too.
I will definitely try Quincunx Anoop :) In fact, am also reading 2666 this year - something i picked from your list :P :P@Ishita - Honestly speaking I was not a major fan of the Bronte sisters. Found their books extremely boring and a bit on the extreme.. but many people have loved it.. and am sure they are worth their merit but its not for me :)
As for Shakespeare - well what can I say.. He is and will be my first and only love :D :D
@Srividya- me and Anirudh have totally contradictory views regarding 2666. I still haven't gotten over it. He is still pissed at it :DYou will be the tie breaker :P
Sri- I haven't met many who loves the Bronte sister either but one of my absolute favorites is by Emily Bronte- Wuthering Heights.I love the book.
And yay, another Shakespeare fan :D
*high 5*
@Anoop - those were my thoughts exactly :P :P I saw his ratings after I started reading the book and laughed :P :P
*High 5* for Shakespeare Ishita.. but don't kill me.. I did not really like Wuthering Heights and any rating I gave it was only for the language rather than the contents .. and that too only because when I read it (in school and forced at that I must say) I found the language good.. Have never bothered to read it again EVER!!
Anoop wrote: "you have started already???"Ya - started a few pages but buddy reads got in between so abandoned it for the time being. Will get back to it next month.. I quite liked what I did read.. the style was completely different from what I am used to reading.. found it nice :)
*reminds Iniya about War and Peace* XD
And u understood it then ? O.oI read it just last year and now I'm making it a point to read it atleast once every year. I find the book very profound. Maybe I'm looking into it too much but I think it's because of this depth that I love the book.
I hate and love Heathcliff. He's soo dark but deep down he's just hurt. It were the people who turned him the way he did, he didn't become what he had himself. He was pathetic and the end made me sympathize him further.

I was thinking more of Sri and Anoop actually :P:P:P
