It was okayish.

You compared it to shining may be that's why people shelved it under horror.:P

Jarvis Hey Pixie! :P

message 55057: by Jarvis (new)

Jarvis Manu, didn't like it much?

Ya, but I compared it to Shining because of that Visions the olb lady had o.O

It was okay. I was expecting so much as it is considered one of the best fantasy of recent times and that's why am little disappointed. But anyways it was first book only. Hope its gets better in next book.:)

Told you its not scary, it is one of the those books where you never want the story to end. Every new chapter better than the previous.:)

message 55059: by Utkarsh (new)

Utkarsh (utkarsh12) @Manju yeah, enjoying weather. roaming around having fun, not much reading these days.
what about you, having fun?

@Gehna hello slowlax, wassup

message 55060: by Jarvis (new)

Jarvis @Manu, I hope it does for you :)
If hyped books tirn out to be boring, then you look at them as time wasters :P

Yeah, loving it. Just read that part where Mayor calls Cory to ask why he ran away from the office. Poor kid was fooled by the feather :P :P
I love this book! May be because of the innocent of the kids or because of those parts where small things are described so well that you are just amazed that why you never felt that, or never looked at a particular thing from that perspective. Or may be those old memories where I say IKR! I too remember doing/saying/feeling that when I was 12! ^_^

message 55061: by Jarvis (new)

Jarvis @Pixie, nothing... talking about boy's life *dreamy look*

message 55062: by Em Lost In Books (new)

Em Lost In Books (emlostinbooks) @Utkarsh: Yeah you are not reading much these days. Only yesterday Hadrian and Royce were complaining me that.:P:P
Right now? Yeah kind of. Watching uptown funk.;)

Watched any new movie?

message 55063: by Utkarsh (new)

Utkarsh (utkarsh12) @Manju hahaha, Hadrian and Royce can wait, I will hear their tale later.
Uptown funk, nice song.

Last movie I watched was birdman, months ago.

@Gehna you are reading it but not discussing about it. You want to keep the boy to yourself only. :P

message 55064: by Jarvis (new)

Jarvis @Pixie, what then? YOU want the boy? O.o

message 55065: by Em Lost In Books (new)

Em Lost In Books (emlostinbooks) @Gehna: IKR?

Oh yeah that part is great but I think am going to say that for every event of the book.;) writing is one of the biggest strength of thus book. Life at 12, so innocent yet so much courage, strength, character and power has shown through Cory that you can't help but adore it.:)

message 55066: by Utkarsh (new)

Utkarsh (utkarsh12) Gehna wrote: "@Pixie, what then? YOU want the boy? O.o"

Na, you keep him. :P

@Manju what aspect of fantasy books you like? what you look when you search for a fantasy book.

message 55067: by Jarvis (new)

Jarvis Manu, IKR = I know, right?

Haha, you love it so much?! :D :D
Yes, I agree. Loving the writing :D
Cory reminds me of Scout :P

message 55068: by Jarvis (new)

Jarvis Pixie, better :P

message 55069: by Em Lost In Books (new)

Em Lost In Books (emlostinbooks) @Utkarsh: Poor boys! Am sure they'll cry their hearts out once they read that.:P

Not a movie fan?

I pick fantasy books mostly based on their ratings and how my friends and people I follow have rated a particular book/series. Because when it comes to fantasy I have observed that fantasy lovers are very stingy when it comes to rating books. Unlike ya/pnf lovers they don't give every book five stars.

How you pick your fantasy books?

Em Lost In Books (emlostinbooks) @Utkarsh: Am still waiting for a review.:)

message 55073: by Utkarsh (new)

Utkarsh (utkarsh12) @Gehna Ohhkay, Peter pan will be heartbroken. :P

@Manju yeah, I look for ratings also friend's reviews but ratings on goodread is not reliable, not after name of the wind. :D
I try to learn what the book is really about, why it is different from others.

message 55074: by Utkarsh (new)

Utkarsh (utkarsh12) Manju wrote: "@Utkarsh: Am still waiting for a review.:)"

Err... Later, not in mood these days.

message 55075: by Em Lost In Books (new)

Em Lost In Books (emlostinbooks) @Gehna: How was Peter Pan?

@Utkarsh: Hahaha... One or two books can be exception and don't say a word about everyone's favourite Kote.;)

Whatever fantasy I have read their stories are very different from others. Only Sanderson books have magic systems, other fantasy authors that I have read writes books with negligible magic.

I haven't read much fantasy. I mostly read Sanderson for his larger than magic systems, asoiaf for its excellent writing and characters and Abercrombie for his awesome characters.

Haven't read others. Lynch, Weeks and Ryan two books each.

I love than book. That was the first book I ever read and I keep re reading it :D :D It offers a world which we can only drean as kids, you know. Like fairies, pixies, angels and captain Hook!! I discover new things in every reread! Even those small things for a kid's pleasure and mean a lot from an adult's (or teenager's, like myself :P) eyes! :D
