Rod Brown (rodbrown) | 184 comments Dead Calm (1963) by Charles Williams is a sequel to his novel Aground (1960). Both books feature the character John Ingram. Both books have multiple editions/ISBNs which should have the series info.

There is no official title to the series so I would suggest Aground (Aground #1) and Dead Calm (Aground #2), or Aground (John Ingram #1) and Dead Calm (John Ingram #2), depending on Goodreads favored convention. (By the way, there is a case for calling it the John & Rae Ingram series, but that might be a bit spoilery as the characters are not married when they meet in Aground.)

I base this on the fact that I own both books. It is referenced on the cover copy of the Dead Calm edition I own and added to Goodreads:

It is also noted on Wikipedia:

Rod, would you verify the ISBN 10 (671773658) on your copy, please? I got an error message when I saved the record. For one thing, it's missing a digit: it's only 9 digits instead of 10. WorldCat has a listing for this edition but does not show an ISBN: http://www.worldcat.org/title/dead-ca...

Rod Brown (rodbrown) | 184 comments Oh, it actually says it is the "Standard Book Number" on the verso page and is only nine digits. I wasn't aware until this evening that there was a difference, so I guess that should be removed. Sorry.

SBNs can usually be converted to ISBNs by adding a leading zero.

Dobby (dobby0390) | 7869 comments Removed the 9-digit SBN and added a Librarian Note. In this case, ISBN 0671773658 belongs to a children's book, Two Can Share, Too.

Thanks, Rivka! I didn't know to check that; always a good day when I learn something new. :-)

I believe it was vicki_girl who taught me that. (See also her great writeup about older books and ISBNs.)
